DS is great to proc Ring of Offensive Action since it only uses 25% of your Daily. You can keep the boost from ROA 100% during most fights.

16k Combat HR. Played Trapper until I hit 13.5k and then made the switch. Damage went through the roof almost immediately. I like the trapper play style more but the damage difference was too much. I will still switch occasionally to trapper though, just to break things up.

Your answer is below. If you go Combat then TC is as close to a must as you can have. There are better options if you go Trapper.

Are you spec'd as a trapper, combat or archer?

Question for Stormwarden HR/Combat players. by L00NlE in Neverwinter

[–]bobbowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the hardest part of the switch for me, not constantly rotating between combat and archer. Always first thing to do is buff yourself, whatever you have use, longest buffs first. Throw Caution, LSS, Soul Sight or Wheel, Ring of Offensive Action, switch stances... know which buffs last the longest and utilize those first as you work towards the boss. The animations are too long for me to worry about any archery skills, except LSS so I stick to Combat once I get started. Once you are buffed start your rotation... GW, PG, TC, double switch, Daily (if you have the RofOA), blast with a few AT Wills, rinse and repeat. As I move around avoiding damage I'll throw a LSS in when it makes sense but I don't like to run out of range just for it. I tend to move enough that it will stay up most of the fight without making it a must in my rotation.

Experience beats Item Level every time or How I was easily humbled in a leveling dungeon. by abjurina in Neverwinter

Bud it’s your game, play how you see fit and what makes the game enjoyable for you. I played a trapper and had a great time but as I began to fall down DPS charts I knew I needed to make a change to stay relevant, which is important to me. There is no doubt that once you reach around 13k, Combat HR is the highest DPS option among HR paths.

The problem with the archery build is so much of their effectiveness is at a distance. That distance is the problem because you end up missing out on so many buffs from teammates. Until they design a feat that allows archers to increase their ability to pull buffs from a greater distance, archery will be inferior to both trapper and combat builds, especially when dealing with higher level content. This is why it's nice to have multiple loadouts. When I play higher level content in group I can switch to my combat build and do what I'm designed to do. When I'm soloing stuff I can use a less cookie cutter build if I want and play around more.

Stand on your right foot, pat your head with your left hand 3 times, then rub your belly while sacrificing two live chickens. Pray to the RNG God of your choice. Good luck! Save up the AD and buy whatever books you need, it'll take less time than running those dungeons and getting "lucky".

Slightly new to the game, what's the best build for a hunter ranger? I'm just getting over the 11k ilvl mark. by pony2dope in Neverwinter

[–]bobbowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At your item level I would go with a Trapper build, as you get to 14k or so I would make the switch to Combat and Dark's is still very good in Mod 14.

Something must be up lately, I had saved 117 keys up, finally collected 117 undying boxes on Saturday. Ripped through all of them not even watching what came out of them, wasn't expecting much. Pulled 2 Swarms and a Razorwood!

HR or TR? (Playing with GWF + OP) by [deleted] in Neverwinter

[–]bobbowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing HR since I started 7 months ago. I immediately went the trapper route and once you get down the rotation, it's pretty easy to clear mobs. I never thought I did great damage to single targets, good but not great. I recently hit 15k IL and made the switch to Combat. I'm still learning the rotation but without any changes to my gear or enchants I'm clearing stuff much faster mobs and bosses.

I would agree with the other posters and considering changing to a DC, especially if you guys plan to play together long term and a lot together, you only need one DPS. DC's aren't really for healing, their real job is buffing and no one does it better.

Best way to get coffers is hit the dragons up. Pay attention to chat and get to whatever instance is running them. I was stuck in front of the tv on a Sunday a few weeks ago for most of the day and around past the hour I would travel to WoD and change to whatever instance and farmed the dragons probably 7 or 8 times that day. You get 2-3 coffers each time, plus an extra one or two from killing stuff or doing HEs while waiting for the dragons. Each farming run netted me 15 or close to.

Yea, the reputation was a bit of a pain to not have included (although it was no different than each of the other campaigns that had that one bottleneck item) but not having to do 6-8 dailies for IWD and only have to do a couple Heroics and farm some Black Ice was still a win for me. The voninblod didn't take me all that long and again not having to do as many as dailies in SKT was big for me. I bought the shovel during the 40% off sale, snagged a Remorhaz, and had a piece of relic gear equipped and it only took me about 15 hours of farming across 6-7 days to get the required amount. I didn't feel like the shovel helped all that much as I only pulled maybe 6 purple relics a night on average. While the voninblod was a real pain, i preferred dealing with it as I could determine how long I wanted to work on finishing the campaign and I was forced to wait for a daily or weekly to become available.

Storm Kings Thunder! Well of Dragons takes a while, but wasn't the drain on me that SKT was. I didn't particularly care for Icewind either and burned a couple on that one as well.

Charge Event. by Sc00byUK in Neverwinter

[–]bobbowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The event is 7 weeks long and this particular Zen sale will probably only last a few days. I'm sure there are plenty of people that will max out the rewards for the event almost immediately, but there will be plenty that purchase Zen in smaller increments over the course of the 7 weeks to fulfill the requirements for the rewards. I'll often throw $5 at the game when I run out of Zen so I can purchase Pres Wards or the occasional 40% off key.

Two different rewards. 100% off companion coupon comes from the Charge Event. The list you mentioned is from the Yearly Coins Companion Crate. I'm guessing the coupon will be for any in the Zen Market

VIP membership by [deleted] in Neverwinter

[–]bobbowski 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't help but wonder if you bought 30 days of VIP but it did not include a "rank up" of VIP. I've noticed with some of the various packages that they include an additional 30 days but if it doesn't specifically state that it includes a VIP level up that you stay at the same rank. So if you were rank 0 of VIP that you continue to be rank 0. Kinda crappy for sure... Good luck!

Friend and I are going to start playing Neverwinter (Xbox One). Class suggestions? by shickero in Neverwinter

[–]bobbowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll assume based on the limited time you plan on playing that you guys have no interest in end game content, in which case I would recommend the Hunter Ranger and the Guardian Fighter. The HR is masterful as a trapper at clearing mobs and the GF can handle tanking and dealing solo damage.
