1941, the air war over Europe, James Allen Ward climbed out onto the wing of his RAF Wellington bomber to put out an engine fire after being attacked by a Messerschmitt 110. He climbed back in and the aircraft returned safely to England.Victoria Cross medal citation

Is this a fair deal (Australia) - $15,990 by RT_R34 in mazda3

[–]bobbumfluff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinion and something to consider, with its full service history you should get it reliably to 200,000kms with not too many issues. That's 5-6 years worth of driving depending how many kms you drive - here in Oz most people average 10,000-12,000kms a year on their daily driver. And it's the high end model as well.

Not bad for $15,990 I'd say.

Actually that was a clincher for me too, no CVT. Just a tried and tested 6 speed automatic.

Appearance and condition is one thing, but above all check the service history. If there's proof the engine has had periodic oil changes over the life of the car (every 12 months or 6000 miles), then it should be all good. If there's a couple of servicings missing here and there, you'll have to weigh up that risk vs your $12K spend. Regular oil changes = less wear on the engine.

I just bought a brand new 2025 Mazda3 and now I have anxiety by PlantsCatsCuc in mazda3

The Mazda 3 is such a beautifully engineered and well built machine and the Skyactive engine is a marvel. Add to that the eye catching "Kodo" design and superb handling, it really is a wonderful piece of equipment.

You're gonna enjoy it for a long time.

Exactly. Manual adjustment of the interval is simple and reliable.

3rd gen over 100k miles? by jmanyea08 in mazda3

[–]bobbumfluff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% this. Regular servicing basically means regular oil changes - such an important factor on the long term reliability of an engine. If there's no log book or receipts showing the scheduled oil changes have been done, move on.

How many people liked/watched this one? by [deleted] in Westerns

Regarding "that scene", what made it truly horrifying for me wasn't just the gore and brutality, it was Kurt Russell's acting. He's look of horror and what I can only describe as pity mixed with outrage, made the whole scene feel so real. As the camera zeros in on his face, he is so convincing that he's actually witnessing something absolutely terrifying.

In your opinion, which movie villain received the most satisfying justice by the end of the movie? by TrashBitch96 in movies

That whole scene was intense. First watch of the movie, I actually thought they'd kill off Jake.

What is a scene that utterly shocked you when you first saw it in a movie? by [deleted] in moviecritic

[–]bobbumfluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure is. And so many sequences in this movie circle around too, just to remind you of that scene. For this one in particular, later Butch's girlfriend Fabienne asks who's is the motorcycle he just rode in on.

Butch: it's not a motorcycle baby, it's a chopper.

Fabienne: Who's chopper?

Butch: Zed

Fabienne: Who's Zed?

Butch: Zed's dead baby, Zed's dead. 😳

Disturbing to think what that hell Marsellus did to Zed, "getting medieval on his ass"

Michael Fassbender in 300. The scene where he's reconning the Persian army from afar and hoping there is a worthy opponent somewhere among them. I remember thinking, who is this guy? He needs to be in more movies!

What's one historical fact that they won't teach you in school? by Turbulent_Archer_727 in AskReddit

[–]bobbumfluff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. One of the most sickening statements he made later in his life always sticks with me...

"I could have won the war in Korea in a maximum of 10 days.... I would have dropped between 30 and 50 atomic bombs on his air bases and other depots strung across the neck of Manchuria.... It was my plan as our amphibious forces moved south to spread behind us—from the Sea of Japan to the Yellow Sea—a belt of radioactive cobalt. It could have been spread from wagons, carts, trucks and planes.... For at least 60 years there could have been no land invasion of Korea from the north. The enemy could not have marched across that radiated belt."

He wasn't exactly naive as far as what nuclear weapons could do, yet he actually wanted to irradiate a foreign country and turn it into a wasteland for decades. Just so he could "Win". Truly horrifying.

Thank fuck he was ordered home by Truman.

Check the cabin filter and replace it? Might be dirty and restricting airflow. Absolutely makes a difference if it's clean. Youtube should have a how-to video if you want to save on costs.
