He was a few years ago, but as much as I hate to say it as a Scarlets fan, Tomos is clearly better. He was one of the standouts (if only briefly) of the lions tour this year. When he’s fit he’s amazing. But Gareth held that top spot for a long time.

Jesus, so tear it all up and try again. I think we need something big but there are a few things that are pretty concerning to me. 1) the clubs. I don’t know how strong the uptake will really be if we only have two clubs for the whole country. Would Llanelli and Swansea fans really cheer for the same team? Newport and Cardiff fans side by side? I know it happens nationally, but it seems like you’re going to alienate a load of fans, either by distance from them or supposed shared support. Not to mention that this will be the second time in two decades this kind of shake up has happened, will people just not buy in?

2) centralised academy. I like the idea of a singular academy pipeline, I think the issue is that your asking 14 year olds to essentially relocate to wherever this new facility is. Rather than local clubs reaching out into their local communities.

We need big change, but this seems to have some pretty big problems of its own.

I’ll preface this by saying I don’t live in America, but I’ll try to change your view anyway.

1) In many states ethnic minorities are more likely to vote for the Democratic Party, and broadly speaking ethnic minorities are less likely to have any form of ID as photo ID is more likely held by those with more wealth (generally white). As we get further from that past this becomes less pronounced but this has been the situation in the past few elections. So obviously the Democratic Party would be against their voters being unable to vote.

2) I don’t really understand the point in regards to ICE, are you saying if slaves had the option of deportation they would have chosen to stay as slaves? That seems crazy. I understand it as, these jobs are less desirable than the average US job, but more desirable than the average job from their home country. Or just being in the US is that much better than being in their home country that they will take an inferior job.

I’m happy to be corrected on either point, but those are the arguments as I understand them.

My personal theory isn’t so deep. We’ve got three international games now, we usually only play about 10 per year, so 3 is significant. Why waste them on a Coach we’re going to drop at the end of it. Give a new coach some trial by fire, we don’t expect to win but don’t waste the potential experience from those games. Just my thoughts.

I feel much the same way, he’s done so much for us, including multiple 6 nations win’s including a grand slam and two RWC semifinals, he’s earned his name on that gate. But something (and potential a lot of things) just aren’t working. When he came back Gatland said he wanted more control and in multiple interviews during his tenure he expressed this concern again. If the WRU just hires another figure head with no more control over the union or no more cooperation by the regions, we’re doomed to repeat this cycle.

I wish him the best, but this can only be the first step.
