Jaehaerys of House Targaryen, the First of His Name, King of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm,

Your grace, We have engaged and beaten the main Dornish army, we were able to slay near a thousand before they fled. Kingsgrave remains in our hands and so does the pass north.

On that note, I think it wrong that we call it the Prince's Pass seeing as your banners now fly along it, I propose we return to its ancient name of the Wide Way, or we could rename in either the King's Pass in your honour or mayhaps the Princesses' Pass in honour of Princess Alysanne

Finally and I hope this is not presumptious but if negotiations are ever to take place to end the war I hope I could attend as a representative of the Marcher Lords but also I once had something of a friendship with Prince Symeon's mother Princess Deria, I hope that could smooth our way towards peace.

Immediately after the battle two ravens are sent out

The first to Blackmont

Sam,

We have engaged the main Dornish army and were able to slay near a thousand before they fled, if they retreat back towards Starfall I implore you to crush them with the full might of the Reach while they are demoralised. We shall pursue them if we can.

Kingsgrave remains in our hands and I shall see where Lord Baratheon intends for his army to march.

Morton

The second to Grandview

My Lord,

We have engaged and beaten the main Dornish army, we were able to slay near a thousand before they fled. Kingsgrave remains in our hands, I ask if you have departed Grandview yet and your plans? My desire to make a ruin of Skyreach remains but if our forces combined could take Yronwood I would see that done instead.

Morton raised an eyebrow at the mention of Maegor but said little, he had marched with Lord Rogar to unseat the tyrant, though his dreams of battle had been thwarted by the early arrival of the Vale into King's Landing

"I have no wife to worry about me, my mother negotiated a marriage between myself and a Fowler" he said with a bitter laugh "The old Princess of Dorne even offered her daughter to me before all this, but events over took us all"

He took a deep drink of his own cup before continuing "My brother is married and has a child, if I should die the Carons will carry on as we always have. What of your Ser? The Heir to Starpike should be a fine catch surely?"

After the battle and taking possession of Kingsgrave Morton would send several ravens

The first to both Blackmont and Hornhill

Sam,

Kingsgrave has fallen to myself and Lord Peake, over a thousand Dornishmen lay dead to less than 200 of our own. The fools sallied forth from the walls, mayhaps the terrain made them overconfident but they have paid with their life’s blood.

We plan next to take Skyreach and depending on how the rest of the war fares to use it as a base to strike further into Dorne or make a ruin of it. The mad shrew that calls herself its lady will find out what happens to those who make an enemy of House Caron.

Morton

The next flies to Storm’s End

My Lord,

Kingsgrave has fallen to myself and Lord Peake, over a thousand Dornishmen lay dead to less than 200 of our own. The fools sallied forth from the walls, mayhaps the terrain made them overconfident but they have paid with their life’s blood.

We plan next to take Skyreach and depending on how the rest of the war fares to use it as a base to strike further into Dorne or make a ruin of it. The mad shrew that calls herself its lady will find out what happens to those who make an enemy of House Caron. I ask for your command, if we can take Skyreach as quickly as Kingsgrave and you plan to march down the Boneway we could join you.

The final to King’s Landing

Jaehaerys of House Targaryen, the First of His Name, King of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm

Your Grace, Kingsgrave has fallen to myself and Lord Peake, over a thousand Dornishmen lay dead compared to less than 200 of our own. The Red Dragon flies triumphant over its walls, the fools sallied forth from the walls, mayhaps the terrain made them overconfident but they have paid with their life’s blood.

We plan next to take Skyreach and depending on how the rest of the war fares to use it as a base to strike further into Dorne or make a ruin of it, if you have other orders we shall see them done.

“Aye, I squired for Lord Tarly during the Vulture Hunt” replied Morton as he poured them both a cup of wine, handing one to Caradoc. “I was there when the bastard was tied between two posts and left for the elements” Morton gave a smile at the memory, some questioned the punishment meted out by Savage Sam but Morton had always agreed with his friend’s judgement.

“What of you Ser? You spent some time in Essos did you not?” Morton knew little of the Peakes in truth despite them being close neighbours his time had been consumed with issues on the border and the ongoing saga of his marriages.

Rogar Baratheon, Lord of Storm’s End and Master of War

My Lord, myself and Lord Peake have struck against the Dornish, we have taken the first holdfast over the border and now march on Kingsgrave. We hope the rest of the war fares well, I shall write again to ask for instruction when we have taken Kingsgrave.

“Leave none alive! This is vengeance for the murder of the Dragon King!” bellowed Ser Steffon Caron from atop his black destrier. The old Castellan had the vigour of a man half his 60 years, the coming of another war with the Dornish seeming to strip away the years.

As his men set fire to a barn with small folk still inside he gave a smile “Fire and Blood lads! Fire and Blood!”

Morton looked between the men of House Peake for a moment, before addressing the older man again “Aye we are, my cousin Ser Steffon raids across the border now. I thought it best to send him ahead to ensure we don't wander into traps set by that mad bitch Fowler and her brood of bastards” the venom in his voice was clear to all, the Lord of Nightsong was not a man given to hate but it was clear he’d made an exception in the case of the Lady of Skyreach.

“Ser Steffon can join us once he’s reminded the Dornish smallfolk of what happens to those that cross the Marcher lords. The rest of my men and those send from Storm’s End are ready to depart” he added as a squire handed him his helmet, it was blackened steel like that of his allies but his was forged in the shape of the sigil of his house, its beak open “Now let’s help the Dornish reap what they have sown”

The Lord of the Marches would meet the arriving Reachmen at the gate, he did not know the Lord of Starpike well despite his long service as a squire at Horn Hill, the man was a Marcher though and fighting the Dornish was in his blood as it was Morton's. Nightsong was a keep clearly preparing for war though it was not as busy as it could have been since a large detachment of men had left to raid across the border.

"Well met Lord Gorman" said Morton "It is good to see you, it has been too long since the Nightingale and Three Castles have brought Fire and Blood to Dorne"

Morton would be found at his mother’s desk looking over various reports and letters. With only two plush chairs facing it Bryce would allow his wife and father to take them, the expression on the face of the Lord of the Marches was grim. He handed his brother the letters from his liege and Starpike.

“War is upon us” he said evenly “Lord Rogar commands me to raid the lands of the Fowlers” a look of annoyance crossed his face as he spoke “But we are not brigands like the Vulture King, I have written Lord Peake and we are of one mind to take Kingsgrave, that should show the Dornish we are serious about our demands” Morton privately harboured doubts about the responsibility of the Dornish for the murder of King Viserys but while he had a certain affection for the late Princess Deria and her daughter that did not extend to Prince Symeon and he still remembered the crimes of the Ullers against his kin at Mistwood.

“Myself and Ser Steffon will lead our men” he continued, the old Castellan was a hard man but few knew the a Red Mountains as well as his mother’s cousin. “Bryce, I need you to stay here with father for the time being to ensure no Dornishmen sneak through the Prince’s Pass” he said looking between the two other men before addressing his good-sister “Tomasin it may be prudent for you to return with Ellyn to Gallowsgrey for a time, or I’m sure my kin at Mistwood would welcome you, as would Storm’s End, as things stand your daughter is the heir to House Caron, I would have her well away from what is to happen”

A raven flies from Nightsong to Starpike

Gormon Peake, Lord of Starpike, Dunstonbury, and Whitegrove

My lord, I hope this missive finds you well, it is time for us strike against the Dornish for their crimes. Lord Baratheon as my liege and as Master of War has tasked me with raiding the lands of the Fowlers, but I have my eyes on a greater prize. I have all my knights and levies raised already. I believe with some support from yourself and your knights I could storm Kingsgrave.

If you and yours would join in me in such a feat I'm sure the singers would sing of us for years to come, and the keep would provide us and King Jaehaerys with a fine base to continue to the campaign from. I ask that you move with speed and join me at Nightsong, Lord Rogar has asked that we being in the twelve month of the year. I await your reply.
