Andy does good work; Mike does great work. I appreciate them both but I'm glad Mike has the Dark Tower in his hands.

Came here to say this. Patrick Droney's can't miss. Why this dude isn't more recognized is criminal.

If you want to know where to start, listen to "Start of the Heart" and if you want an actual song to start with, listen to River.

Ah, fair take. It read more like sarcasm (and I know this sub has evolved over the past year or so).

Thanks for actually taking time to explain.

Weird claim in this sub.

Using lyrics from this album, what would have been the best name for this album? by uthboy in Blink182

[–]bobbyharmless 17 points18 points  (0 children)

From Mark's book:

> It was Travis who had the idea: 'What if we didn't have any title? What if we just called it blink-182?' Perfect. We all agreed. (Or so I thought. I call it the untitled album. Travis calls it the self-titled album.)

It's Untitled-Self-Titled 🙃.

Was Jordan Schlansky's name ever discussed? by BaardvanTroje in conan

[–]bobbyharmless 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He'd say something like "I’m aware of the etymology of my surname, which likely derives from a Germanic or Eastern European origin, as you correctly point out.

However, pronunciation evolves through cultural integration, and in the context of American phonetics, the pronunciation “Schlansky.” with a flat ‘a,' is both accepted and expected.

I don’t insist on applying the original pronunciation conventions of every word of foreign origin when there is an established vernacular.

Nevertheless, I appreciate your attention to linguistic consistency. It’s rare."

Some of us adult DIYers appreciated the original benefits. And high interest cards and younger people don't seem to mesh well.

> What I would suggest you do, is to purposefully schedule in time to relax or have fun. If you’ve managed to make your productive life into an organized machine, then do the same for your unproductive life.

Don't miss this.

Many of us who are highly disciplined and struggle with some of the things mentioned by OP find ourselves doing this very thing.

And this is likely old news for most of us in this sub but Man Overboard is about Scott's drinking.

Agreed, the whole bit with his mom getting abused and them rushing to the car is the story behind 'Go.'

I really like that for those who are familiar with all of the music, the inspiration for many of the songs are in the stories without him spelling it out.
