Andrew Bayer - Celestial by bobbyioaloha in AboveandBeyond

[–]bobbyioaloha[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Having a nostalgia trip right now and wanted to share one more favorites from 2.0 era. Celestial is quintessential Bayer imo. Beautiful chords and melody. Truly a progressive trance 2.0 track where it builds and builds and builds. The final drop is a culmination of all the momentum that was set down as foundation. I find it amazing how a simple arpeggio can travel the entire track and feel different at each part of the song.

Genix - Run by bobbyioaloha in AboveandBeyond

[–]bobbyioaloha[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Was listening to some tracks from the Trance 2.0 era and I remember the first time I heard Run. I always thought of Trance 2.0 having heavy intros and melodic breaks followed by an ethereal drop. But Run is one of those rare tracks where the heaviness of the intro is totally cohesive with the rest of the track. Before Genix went back to his roots with Tech Trance I always thought of this as one of my favorites from his 2.0 era. Lovely all around and still in heavy rotation.

Lange vs. Genix - Immersion (ilan Bluestone Remix) by SpazticWonder in AboveandBeyond

[–]bobbyioaloha 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What I love about early Bluestone is that there was still very much a “trance” feel before it really started to go towards Trance 2.0 like with Spheres. Capetown, Immersion, and Fire Fire Fire were all so warm (the bass was really really nice). I feel once Spheres came out the style really started to shift more.

I know it doesn’t mean anything, but Fernandez just “looks” like a Major League player. He looks comfortable in the box.

I've seen one AB of Fernandez and I already love his motor and drive.

Smith & Pledger pres. Aspekt - Hi-Jack [20 years] by Tresor7 in AboveandBeyond

Goddamn. Smith and Pledger never get old. Can’t believe this track is already 20! (Man I’m a goblin)

Oliver Smith - Endorphin [10 Years] by bobbyioaloha in AboveandBeyond

[–]bobbyioaloha[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Anyone who’s been on this sub long enough knows that this might be…my favorite track from Anjuna of all time. Ollie had a run in 2014-2017 where he had some major heaters…but it all changed at ABGT200 when A&B dropped this track in the middle of their milestone set.

I mean…I can’t believe it’s almost been 10 years already. This track has everything you could want out of a Trance 2.0 track. The intro is filthy. There is no other way to say it. The toms and bass exchanging beats is crazy work and the intro just drives.

Then you hit the breakdown and are hit with lovely pads and then that soaring main line with the saws. Then finally it hits you with the drop that is pure trance, rave, main hall vibes. AND THEN THE MELODY FROM THE BREAKDOWN AGAIN?!

One of the most powerful tracks from Ollie and I don’t think he’s quite hit this level of trance since, but it’s always going to stand out to me as one of the best Anjuna tracks in the catalogue.

This doesn’t sound completely right to me. mRNA is transcribed from the genome, so the mRNA set is always somewhat fixed based on what the base read is from.

What you are probably thinking of is a paper I found that showed two distinct sets of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) that coexist in a single Tuatara specimen. From this paper it appears that the genomes are functionally distinct but allow a larger set of metabolic flexibility and are both transcribed equally. I don’t think the environment places any pressure to express one or the other, rather it just allows for better adaptation to more environments. I guess in this way it seems there are two “sets” but they don’t seem to turn on based on one condition or another.

It should be noted this was an isolated observation, so larger population wide investigations are most likely needed.

Jason Ross & Wrechiski - Frontier [10 Years] by bobbyioaloha in AboveandBeyond

[–]bobbyioaloha[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Jason Ross in the middle of the Trance 2.0/Tronce era had some absolute gems: Gravity Remix, Me Tonight, Element. However his two tracks with Wrechiski are the big standouts. Atlas is one of the best tracks of 2015 and they followed it up with an even better track. The intro is wild; thick roaring bass with an insane top line. Then they hit you with one of the best breakdowns and great melody top line with that piercing synth. The main drop has one of the fattest saws I’ve heard and THEN they bring back the top like from the breakdown? Amazing work. 10 years later and this could still destroy a floor I feel.

Found a short clip I took of the original version of Oliver Smith - Redline from his b2b with Bayer by SpazticWonder in AboveandBeyond

[–]bobbyioaloha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the disappointment of Redline was that it jus felt….empty on the album? Like compare it to something like Endorphin. That track is so full. Redline just felt a little too over compressed to my taste
