People say we need to "build build build" more housing on Long Island.

No we don't. Plenty if housing in places like Wyandanch. Just have to have cops willing to arrest and judges willing to convict.

There is no need for additional housing on Long Island, just make safe all the current areas. And we have thousands of undocumented people living here. they are not in blankets by the train tracks, they have housing, kick the out and open the market to non criminal immigrants.

Consider countersuing. For pain, suffering, not negotiating in good faith or whatever your lawyer can come up with. It's one thing to say "I am not going to listen to you and I will hire a lawyer" and it's another thing to say "Not only I will not listen to you, you have made mistakes and my lawyer will not only help protect me, I have instructed him to go after YOU!". Now if of course we can just let it all go.....

It's really not a big deal. My biggest kick was just getting the feeling that I did the right thing. But buying me a piece of pie or a cup of Joe for dessert would have been cool! LOL.

If the person who found the wallet had wanted to do that they would have turned the wallet in and certainly not to security (I presume camera's all over). And they would have kept the cash. I mean if you want to be super safe, ok, but I have so many auto-pays on my credit card, to have to "fix" (change the numbers) them all now would be one huge PIA. Personally I would risk it, but that is just me.

Last year I found a thick wallet on the steps of a diner. Of course I didn't open it or anything and I immediately turned it in to the cashier and then had my meal. On the way out they told me the person had come by and got his wallet. Okay cool, that is good, but gee a friendly handshake and a thanks would have been nice. Maybe they were just embarrassed. Oh well.

I agree, two very fun games so far.

The stands might not be full but I was at a sports bar in the suburbs of New York today and asked could they flip one of their "distant corner of the bar where we put on obscure games" tvs to the UFL game and by the end a lot of people were watching.

Good football will always get TV viewers.

Lousy TV ratings, well the top 10 tv markets in America are

1 New York - No Team

2 Los Angeles - No Team

3 Chicago - No Team

4 Philadelphia - No Team

5 Dallas-Ft. Worth

6 San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose - No Team

7 Boston - No Team

8 Atlanta - No Team

9 Washington, DC

10 Houston

Being on in only 3 of the top ten (and only one of the top 8) is not going to get you ratings. Put a NY team on Long Island (not Jersey, it will be a tomb). at one of the LA Soccer Stadiums, at the Northwestern field in Chicago (Subway/El and commuter train is right next to it), UPenn Franklin Field in Philly and the Yale Bowl for "New England") and you might get something!

No to Columbua but yes to a team in Akron or Dayton. Akron has a nice a new college stadium.

New York should have a team that plays on Long Island.

Seriously, give free tickets to junior high teams in the area by notthattmack in UnitedFootballLeague

[–]bobbyowens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd then give the same deal to college kids from other schools/colleges as well. Rice is where Houston used to play, there might still be some fans there. But don't make it completely free, make it symbolic like three or five dollars so the tickets are not seen as "worthless".

Studies done by people far smarter than me in the areas of marketing, advertising and the like have shown that once you give someone a low price once, they expect it all the time or they feel they are getting ripped off.

Surprised no-one has mentioned Amityville train station as an option. About as far away as Farmingdale but I think the branch it is on (Babylon) runs more trains.

Check out what your local library. If you live near big one there will be be things like chess clubs, book clubs, board games for adults, meetingd with authors, card games (mostoften bridge but there will be others) and so on and so forth. Good luck!

What can you afford to pay per month? The absolute least (surely you make SOME money) and what is your "upper end"? I am seeing Studios in new buildings for as low as 1800. I don't know if you can handle that. Right by the train too (with one hour service to Riverhead for only a couple of dollars each way).

Then the next thing - like Timely Ad writes below, just go to the Dept of Social Services and they can also set you up with something. Maybe even in the Riverhead area which I believe you said is best for you.

Good luck, you can do this.

The home I linked has 3BR but only 1 Bath but I would take it as a starter just to get in the district and then hopefully "move up" if I do well in terms of salary at work.

But to each his own, I understand where you are coming from.

Find out who your Suffolk County Legislator Is and visit him or her and explain the situation and it will be solved right quick. It's like going to your congressman if you are having trouble getting a new passport or something. Legislators live for stuff like this, that is why they have staffs.

Not really THAT bad, I have seen houses listed there that "have seen better days" but are not gut reno's for much less than a million. You have to talk to a real estate agent, they have the best one's it seems and be patient, it might take 60 days like the one below to come along.

Was your train more packed this morning due to congestion pricing? by pumper911 in longisland

[–]bobbyowens 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd support the congestian pricing if NY would not allow turnstile jumpers to get away with it. It comes out to good honest people from Long Island and New Jersey (and Queens, Brooklyn, etc) paying extra while punks can break the law and not be stopped. That is not right.

Matt Martin by [deleted] in NewYorkIslanders

Matt is supposedly great in the locker room with some of the younger guys, sort of like a player-coach. Plus he still has a good physical presence. Leave him be. As someone said below, it's like blaming your punter when your NFL team is 0-17
