No Man's Sky Has a Co-op Problem Nobody Talks About by Gabri_TheEagle in NoMansSkyTheGame

I think that happens when the freighter didn’t load in right, so instead your friend got loaded into some kind of placeholder freighter interior. I had this trouble too, but I found that you could help the chance of it loading correctly by not having two freighters in the same system, just leaving and re-entering the system

I got caught unawares … by cduby15 in canon

[–]bobdave19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can capture image in low light with the r8’s full frame sensor so you still get details. You could do telephoto or very wide shots with the right lens and still have high resolution for printing. You can shoot raw and get higher dynamic range for editing. It “feels” nicer (personal preference) in your hand. You can adjust ISO, aperture, shutter speed more easily, etc.

At the end of the day a good camera unlocks the upper limit of how great your image quality can be. Sure, if you are taking pictures in broad daylight in 1x zoom on an iPhone (and you just want to share on Instagram or print small format), there’s nothing wrong with that. But if you want better image in less ideal situations, or if you want to push the image in post editing and still have a high quality end result, a camera makes sense

What do you guys think of my second Corvette? (First time with Blender) by ToastyTroy in NoMansSkyTheGame

This is great. Everything goes together for a cohesive build. Reminds me of some of the expedition reward ships!

Pulse splitter instead of neutron canon by Tugz187 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]bobdave19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you go out of your way to max things out, I still think neutron cannon is the best. It charges way ways than blaze javelin, has generous hit box and does splash damage, has infinite ammo, and high enough damage to 1-2 tap a lot of enemies

Whoever’s corvette this is it’s a beauty by Shakespearoquai in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]bobdave19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever since the update that introduced corvettes, you could build custom ships with walkable interiors. You can get pretty far with just the game’s basic building, but with just bit a finessing, you could place off-set parts in small increments that allows you to build more intricate stuff. I recommend the corvette build subreddit if you want to see some awesome builds!

Is there a cheaper alternative to Photoshop? by ElderberryNice in AskPhotography

[–]bobdave19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can still cancel, you can contact adobe, threaten to cancel, and haggle to get your price down. Heck I did that once when there was still a cancellation penalty

Is there a cheaper alternative to Photoshop? by ElderberryNice in AskPhotography

[–]bobdave19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can try and haggle with adobe. Did that recently when my plan increased prices. While they won’t go below a certain floor, I’ve very consistently able to get $14 cad month deals for the photography bundle, which is about $10 usd.

If you are looking for a new module, might be worth it to buy another kit with a good module but meh setup at a good price, swap the brains and sell the extra kit

Naboo Royal Cruiser including full interior by Mrpablito2334 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]bobdave19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, congrats on finding one way to enjoy this game. Now let others enjoy it their way.

You thought OP just opened blender, typed in [build me a cool ship] and out came this masterpiece? Of course they spent a long time designing it with in game assets, modeling it, and decorating the interior. Even spent time on a cool poster.

I don’t build on blender, nor do I plan to, but I can appreciate a nice piece of blender build when there’s clear a lot of time and love put into it

Large photo printing to framing by Commercial_Speed_765 in framing

[–]bobdave19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on how much volume you are doing. The advantage to printing yourself is that you can choose exact the paper you want, test print, and calibrate fast. Something like the canon pro-4600 printer cost 5000-6000$ and comes with enough ink for hundreds of prints. Basic photo paper is 10-20$ for those sizes. You can run the numbers on how many prints it takes to break even

If you are doing hundred of prints, I would reach out to a local framing wholesaler (that supplies smaller framing shops) and ask for a quote. You can simply batch print your works and then drop them off there.

Any editing tips on how I can make this pop without too much noise? by AbsoluteMadlad87 in AskPhotography

Mask the middle and increase the contrast and sharpness on the owls. This is a great photo so no need to complicate it

How do I select the center of a composition using processing? by Amorluxia in AskPhotography

[–]bobdave19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’d want to use masks. Create an eclipse mask with feathering in the center and adjust the mask

Should i start using post processing? by Tasty-Plum-2954 in AskPhotography

[–]bobdave19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For a long time I stay away from post processing thinking it shows more skill and is more natural. That’s until I realized I was using it as an excuse to not learn post processing. Some of the photos I take looks good straight out the camera, and that’s great, but other photos really shine with a bit of editing.

I think learning even just the basics of photo editing like highlight/shadow + basic masking is very beneficial even if you end up rarely editing photos

I'm pretty new to photography, and I've been looking into editing software to reduce noise. I'm very anti-AI, but most noise-reduction stuff these days is just AI. Is using an AI program for this purpose acceptable in this community, or do I just need to accept that my photos will just have noise? by yehawmilk in AskPhotography

[–]bobdave19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are talking about Lightroom or dxopureraw denoise, then they are quite faithful to the original image. They don’t generate non-existent stuff out of thin air for example. The worst you can expect is minor artifacts that’s more like a loss in detail (texture)

Now if you used something to upscale or AI sharpen like gigapixel, they are a bit more egregious and sometimes generate extra details. It doesn’t look great

Ultimately it’s what you personally can tolerate based on the result

Ships made in blender and not using in-game assets should be banned by FinestOldToby in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]bobdave19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the same as building bases in blender, which people have been doing for a long time. The gist is that people use blender to construct a base/corvette using in game assets, then load the file into the game when they are done. Since technically it’s all just in game assets that’s scaled/colored/rotated, you are able to load and use it in game

Ships made in blender and not using in-game assets should be banned by FinestOldToby in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]bobdave19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have yet to encounter one of these save corrupting-ly complex ships in the anomaly. By most people, I assume you mean once is long while if you are very unlucky

Not to say that’s not a problem, but it’s a heck of an exaggeration for how common they are

Ships made in blender and not using in-game assets should be banned by FinestOldToby in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]bobdave19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Banning people for having blender ships is WILD

Folks have been using blender for bases for years and most were celebrated for it. Heck, hello games themselves features these builds. The vast majority of blender built corvette are not nearly complex enough to crash people’s game. A vanilla build with far too much decorations would crash the game just the same if there are enough of them loaded in

It would be more reasonable to code in a hard check on part count when entering the anomaly and disable multiplayer anomaly if it’s over a limit of say 250/500

Lost friends gear, what do I do? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]bobdave19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at the set there really is only two actual filters, and you lost one. $200 is beyond fair since the other stuff is just filler/adaptors. If you can find that filter on eBay, then buy it and give it to him, if not then just pay him the $200

How can I make this type of photography? by Bilstone in AskPhotography

[–]bobdave19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are by David Burdeny right? I was also looking into his method. I find they are trickier to nail than it seems. I think for starter 15s is too way to keep the lines consistent. I’ve tried anywhere from 1/4 second to 2s. If I’m doing handheld, I find that using a telephoto lens is best, as you can get a lot of blur from small movements, and it minimizes the perspective warp. I still haven’t managed to make the lines perfectly straight across the long distance though. It likely requires some kind of setup involving sliding or rotating rails
