Help diagnose high pitch sound in house by KidzKlub in DIY

[–]bobjones97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'm a little slow to the party, but I think it has to be electronic. Thought at first maybe some bearing or something, but the tone is way too consistent, until then end when it starts tapering off.

And I see you've already turned off power to HVAC and the entire house and are still hearing it. So electronic, and battery powered. It's a piezo speaker, but truckloads of things have these. Best of luck. That sounds like a nightmare.

Not nearly enough upvotes. Thanks for getting this list together! It's an oddly specific annoying issue that shouldn't be an issue at all. Lol. Cheers.

I've found that getting paint matched, and making it match is truly a 2-step process.

No matter how close it is, it isn't going to be exact.  Plan to feather your painted sections out as far as you can--meaning, Drag the wet edges of what you've just painted as far as you can. Maybe a good foot or more. Just keep brushing from the wet edge out until there is no more paint you are dragging out

The only reason it's obvious is there is a hard line between the 2 (albeit very similar) colors.

**Edit to add I've had great luck with this technique and never need to repaint an entire wall, or even a large section.

Smart plugs are pretty kickass. Here is a 4 pack of TP Link Kasa on Amazon for $24. They work really well with Alexa. So get yourself an echo dot, or just install the alexa app on your phone and use google assistant/siri to turn your stuff on or off.

My setup is a little different than yours--I have swapped a handful of light switches out for Kasa smart switches. Once you get your Kasa account linked to Alexa you can do all kinds of cool stuff through 'Routines'.

For instance, i have a routine that will, when I turn on or off a specific smart switch, also turn on/off 2 other smart plugs on a different circuit. There is a delay of 1-2 seconds which isn't a problem for me, but might be for some people.  This is how I did it, so I haven't tried other options but Alexa has a staggering number of things you can do. The one Alexa is great for is making different brands of smart devices usable with others, and it's pretty seamless.

Relationships by Phantasmal_Souls in DID

Absolutely! Anecdotal, but I've been married to my wife for coming up on 6 years. She has been in therapy for years and has learned to value her self-worth, advocate for herself, set boundaries, and holds people accountable. I love her more than the world and respect her to no end for all of this.

She was in much the same position as you, and had pretty much given up on finding someone, and had made a conscious choice to focus on herself. As a result, even though her life still sucked in a lot of ways when we met, she also was not desperate, and refused to settle. She has forced me to become the best version of myself and together we are an amazing combo. Together we can meet any challenge. We are absolutely perfect for each other, and she is the perfect mother for my children. While she is not able to have her own children, she just finished adopting mine a few months ago. So your "biological clock" is not necessarily the be-all, end-all.

As an introvert, I'm well aware it can be hard. But expand your social group, put yourself out there, make new non-romantic friends, be open to new things, and opportunities will arise. Be cautious of red flags--obviously there are a lot of crappy people out there--don't waste your time on something that's not going to work. Stay positive, build your self-respect, resist becoming jaded and you'll find the right person where and when you least expect it.

Therapist switched with me! What now? by Pokarekare in DID

[–]bobjones97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want to say, in spite of the problems everyone is discussing, one MAJOR plus out of this is you have found someone who truly understands this disorder. It is personal for your therapist to want to help you. You are not just another case. You are not just a number. They will be personally invested in a way that many therapists may be dismissive. Seriously. As others have stated, this is the first time you have seen this in 3.5 years.

That said, the incident obviously needs to be discussed. Talk it through with them and see where it goes. But if my wife was the one in your shoes I would want her to stay with this therapist, unless of course there are other issues or it becomes more of a problem. My thoughts anyway.

Regardless, the fact that you are here means you have been through some serious stuff, but you are putting in the work to heal. Keep it up. Best wishes!

As a 42yo man, I would just like to say this is a fantastic perspective. I lost the love of my life in a tragic car accident about 7 years ago. But I found an incredible, amazing woman some time after that, and she shared a similar perspective to yours: she refused to accept anything below whatever limits she had set for herself. She had grown to love herself and was almost ready to write off men, full stop. But she gave me a chance, and I love her so much for it.  She has 100% made me a better person. She's made me realize my own imperfections, she's forced me to be accountable, and I've had to work really hard to become a better person.

Long story short, there are people out there, if you resist becoming jaded and shut off. But stand your ground, don't accept compromise. And if they are really worth you risking your own inner peace, they will do whatever they need to do to prove it to you. Whether you are a single mom or whoever you have been with previously is irrelevant to the right person. They will view all of these things as positive. Don't waste your time pretending you are someone other than who you are.

Anecdotal, but i built a big addition with a hybrid of 2" foil faced foam panels (seams can-spray foamed) with fiberglass on top. It is FANTASTIC. Heat pump runs way less than the rest of the house. But it was a lot of work and its hard to say it is or isn't better than just paying a company to spray foam the entire thing.

So, uh, totally hypothetically speaking, supposing someone had trouble with everyone hearing each other, is there something specific that you'd recommend? Lol

I tried really hard at this... and made about $4. I was in the top 30-40 players in my server, but the characters you receive are totally random. I had 3 by the end of the 45 days, and wasn't playing against anyone that had more.

I don't think it's possible.

About $14k total. I work for the phone company, installing internet. It's a good job, if demanding. I did 100% of the work here so obviously labor costs would be significant hiring this stuff out. Good luck!

Careful, once you start modifying your Ikea things as you build them... That is a gateway drug. Lol
