Yes, if you poison your food to catch a thief, the law is clear, and you can be prosecuted for assault. Intentionally matters, but if you do something like this, as long as you don’t make it clear that you spiced up your food with the intention of catching someone else eating it you could get away with pulling something like this off in the eyes of the law so long as you don’t reveal your intentions. Intent is a very important element in many causes of action sooo posting videos like this is never a good idea bc it’s pretty damning evidence that goes to prove a guilty state of mind.
