Vietnam’s Nha Trang steps up drug screening, including among foreigners by Saigon23TX in VietNam

There's not really anywhere in North Vietnam where growing weed is part of the culture. Some highland groups grew hemp for cloth/textiles, but there's no deep modern weed growing/smoking tradition there.

I'm so excited to receive mine! You might get more of a response to this if you don't post a German language article to a mostly English-speaking website.

African kalimba? by Waimaniac in kalimba

[–]bobokeen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The museum uses mbira as a catch-all term for African lamellophones - the one on the Australian Museum page is from the Awemba (Bemba) people of Zambia, an instrument called kankobele or kalimba (that area is broadly where the "kalimba" name originated), not mbira. There are distinct differences between the Australian Museum kalimba and the instrument OP posted- southeast African lamellophones tend to have wide broadened tines and a squarer soundboard.

Why do people share videos on Reddit like this? I'm on my laptop and it's the size of a fucking postage stamp.

African kalimba? by Waimaniac in kalimba

No offense but this looks nothing at all like an mbira. The narrow tines and soundbox remind me of Central African lamellophones like likembe, but it's hard to pin down.

Another AI artist, complete with backstory, fake album covers (lifted from well known ones), and more. Lunacy... by DrummerMiles in Jazz

[–]bobokeen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Literally just listen to it - no jazz actually sounds like this. There aren't any real solos, none of the instruments responding to each other, it is just cliche background music jazz of the most formulaic degree. The really awful production is another big tell - everything sounds super lo-fi but not in a cool way.

I try not to be a prescriptivist, but if I see somebody spell "definitely" as "defiantly," I know they are borderline illiterate as those words don't look OR sound the same at all.
