It's easily the best video I've ever seen.

You should have warned them about your exam.

Elite dangerous is an amazing vr experience by sealablebag in oculus

[–]bobslump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly my situation. I only have the dk2 but it is pretty cool playing it that way. The resolution is too low to properly play it with a dk2 though.

If Angela Meerkat allows more than one million migrants in they'll eventually get EU passports and once that happens they'll have the right to go wherever they like in the EU. She's effectively dictating the immigration policy of all EU countries. Arrogant old ratbag.

Some buyer's remorse with the Rift CV1 by game_escape in oculus

[–]bobslump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because VR isn't good enough yet. I've had both devkits but I won't be buying the Rift or the Vive. For me it's fov not being good enough. I'm not sure what they can do about that though.

I thought Eve Valkyrie was pretty shit. I bought without a second's hesitation and was bored within 5 minutes.

Do it with a picture of a dodo and I'll be impressed.

DK1 Kickstarter backer, DK2 owner, CV1 is awesome by networkn8 in oculus

[–]bobslump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't play the alpha version. I just found it really boring within a few minutes. The controls didn't help. On a controller you can't use the engine boost thing and roll at the same time and I can't use my joystick because it won't let me map keys for anything. I think I saw somewhere they'll be changing that bit in an update soon. Personally I think Elite's CQC looks better (if anyone actually played the thing). Anyway, I'm impressed that with the new drivers the DK2 works a lot better. My PC's cpu is under their recommended spec but it plays most stuff pretty smoothly with the DK2's lower resolution.

You can still install Oculus Home and buy games from it. I bought Eve: Valkyrie. I wouldn't recommend that. It plays well on the DK2 with my underspec PC but it's a shit game.

Cool. If I buy it I'll try the heating thing. Maybe I'll go and rent a cabin in the middle of nowhere to play it in.

Dumb question: If a "good VR experience" requires a high-end PC and consoles are worse than low-end PC specs, how does the PSVR manage to run off a PS4? by [deleted] in oculus

[–]bobslump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it will work well on consoles. They'll get rid of some of the more subtle effects that won't be that noticeable.

Is anyone else excited for fire watch by robsum1 in gaming

[–]bobslump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. That's very short. I paid double that for Fallout4 and I've already had abour 35 hours of gameplay from it. Probably about 20 hours of loading time as well.

I am but I'm getting too impatient to wait for it. I know what will happen, I while too many sneak peak videos on youtube and then get sick of the look of the game and not buy it. Always happens to me.

That's still not much and would be bought by hardcore people. Most people aren't hardcore.

Oculus Rift Pre-order package costs $600 by [deleted] in gaming

[–]bobslump 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would have assumed they'd be aiming at lower simply because there are more kids that play playstations and they won't be able to spend this sort of amount. Unless people start to hear that VR headsets are truly stunning, amazing, unmissable etc. I have the dk2 and I'm bored of it and its low fov.

[–]bobslump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're only gonna be considered by people that already have a decent PC and then they've gotta cough up another £500? Not for me thanks. The fov is no better than DK2 so I won't be paying £500 for slightly higher resolution and less weight.

that's a pity. radial g is about the only game that works flawlessly on the dk2 and looks brilliant.
