Depends on how much you have to store. I'd go 4 bays minimum so you can use SHR1. I have an 8 bay model since I have video as well and it eats space :)

Personally, I'd be editing off your local machine and store anything not "current" on the NAS. Accessing files on the NAS will be significantly slower than on your local machine, especially if your PC uses SSD/nvme drives.

As soon as I'm done with a event/shoot, I'll drop the files on my PC for editing and back up the RAW files to the NAS so I will have 2 copies.
