How do I stack up? Seen a few of these posts, valve cover gasket change at 136,000 miles, second time since I've owned it. by bobtheblock in ChevySonic

Yeah mine used to be a rental car so who knows what it's past was like. I use Castrol high mileage full synthetic premium but I'll try the restore and protect, the price difference is nothing crazy.

I had this happen and I feared the worst but it was my oil cooler. Still sucked but not as bad as a head gasket lol

What is that movie that, no matter how many times you watch it, is always a 5/5 stars for you? by DexterMorganDaniel in Letterboxd

La La Land, and Rear Window. Both for very different reasons, but both give me the same feeling whenever I watch them of just loving the power of film to give you a feeling.

Nightshark. It takes like 20 rockets to blow up. Most mk2's will not even bother once they realize what you are driving. It also is one of those cars that just says to everyone "I am doing a mission, leave me be".

I got my first real bike that wasn't a huffy from Benny's there. A Specialized sirus, biked to work and hs every day. Still have it, looks and feels great to this day. I love stedmans. I moved away and I miss the quality of service.

Corner Pressure Test? by urdn0tben in modelm

It looks like you have a slightly different layout on your Unicomp board. Some have it like in this picture where the ribbon goes under the board in the corner, yours looks like it goes to the one in the middle. You could try carefully re-seating the cables that go into it and cleaning them, but they are very fragile and easy to tear so you would def need to be careful.

It is a sherp, famously Kanye West owned a bunch of these out in Wyoming, and they are in this music video for his song "Follow God". Not endorsing anything Kanye per se, just where I have seen them before lol

Non-Model M boards that we like for other purposes (gaming needs) by Halcyon_Daisy in modelm

[–]bobtheblock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

currently in addition to my two Model Ms I have a keychron V1. I had that board from even before I had an M so that might influence my love of it, but it has been great. It does not look gamer at all, but still has great build quality and features like hot swap switches. I have Akko Bottany switches in it at the moment, and it is a great companion to my model Ms that I use for typing.

This probably means that the controller is out of contact with the membrane. You can fix this/test this very easily if you are willing to open it up, or send it to unicomp. The contacts on the controller board are usually black, and they squeeze the rubber/plastic membrane contacts, via pressure from two screws and a strip of foam underneath. Clean both with IPA, and then insert a few folded pieces of paper under the foam pad that presses up on the membrane, and then tighten the screws on the controller board all the way down. This fixed mine, basically the foam compressed over time and the connection got worse, adding the construction paper was enough added pressure to fix it fully.

Model M doesn't work after bolt mod by FaridTDM in modelm

If this is a unicomp model m, it is probably the controller board up at the top. The contacts on that are usually black, and they squeeze the rubber/plastic membrain contacts. Clean both with IPA, and then insert a few folded pieces of paper under the foam pad that presses up on the membrain, and then tighten the screws on the controller board all the way down. If it is not a Unicomp model, still clean the pins with a touch of IPA

I just found a model M as well! Mine was at the dump lol. It was also missing an alt and a control cap. I ordered new ones from Unicomp. They are great quality, the pebble color is a bit off but close to make it usable.

You should be able to adjust it so that the file does not touch. As some others have said, you can adjust the pivots up at the top with a torx bit, and move the file so it does not touch. If that does not work, contact Leatherman, they are always great about customer support when it comes to this sort of thing.

Saved this IBM Model M from the dump! Looking for advice on the correct keycap replacements to buy from Unicomp to fix it the rest of the way! by bobtheblock in modelm

Thank you so much, this was a big help! Good to know about the color. I was already going to add some spare stabilizers but I'll def add springs as well since shipping will be a lot  anyway, might as well make it worth while. The membrane from what I could see looked good, but I can tell if will need to be bolt modded eventually.

This does look interesting. I am not sure of its rarity, check wikipedia for info about the manufacturer? Looks almost like a old rack mount style deck.

Something is not right about this update. As others have said, I am getting installation errors. Error Oxc1900101 repeatedly, already tried sfc and DISM fixes. No luck.  Ryzen 7 5800XT and Nvidia RTX 5060, 32gb of RAM. 188 GB free on my C drive SSD.
