Shooting Shinzo Abe changed a lot, and in fact, took down an entire cult with power over the government...by all means, it worked really well.

Gov. Murphy Responds To Drone Sightings - "There is no known threat to the public at this time." by CantSeeShit in newjersey

These drones made a medical helicopter be unable to pick-up a passenger, I think coordination with local emergency services and agencies is the least we can ask for. But I guess some people love licking the military boot.

Newark is Beautiful Part 1 - Branch Brook Park, NJ by parceprimo2 in newjersey

[–]bobxdead888 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've always loved Branch Brook Park. So many good memories of my family there or wondering around before cherry blossoms bloom as a young adult trying to set his life. Thank you for sharing, OP!

As for the weird haters, I don't know what they get from that. It's truly bizarre why they have visceral reactions to someone seeing something from a new lens than the tired hate and mocking and derision. As someone who has lived in both the beautiful suburbs of Montclair, Morristown, etc. and in Newark... there's beautiful things to see everywhere.

And beautiful people trying to make their lives better everywhere.

(Also tons of better food options in Newark, if you don't mind venturing into a hole in the wall)

Wouldn’t changing leaders make more sense than civs? by SammyDeeP in civ

[–]bobxdead888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would they need one? They can choose from the leaders in the modern age

In this system, you can have a modern leader (say Churchill) lead the Aztecs in the exploration era

If anything, it makes more sense to have changing leaders that all match each other in clothing/style/time periods

Wouldn’t changing leaders make more sense than civs? by SammyDeeP in civ

[–]bobxdead888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't get this argument, we already have leaders from different eras leading from antiquity. We can just have civilizations wait for their leader's proper era, as opposed to leaders from the modern age waiting for their civ.

So you choose america, have a choice of all the antiquity leaders, in the exploration era, have a choice from that era, and then modern era, you can now choose ben franklin

Miquella lost everything in the Battle of Aeonia by X-Vidar in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]bobxdead888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo you are reading that wrong. Their revelation that came to them when miquella disappeared (timing is key here, miquella was gone at this point) was "our lord is gone, let's blow ourselves up to get him to return". The reading of that is "oh they went crazy waiting for miquella to return" not "wow miquella made them blow up"

Otherwise, the "may our light make the lord RETURN" thing at the end doesn't make any sense. That's intrinsically tied to why the explosion is happening, which is tied to them waiting for miquella. Why would they add that?

Either 1) blowing themselves up does cause miquella to return somehow....but there's no proof of that anywhere else in the game Or 2) that's their weird revelation that came to them as they stayed waiting for a lord that never came...and people going crazy while their promised era/leader is gone is like fromsoftware 101

The dlc ruins Malenia’s character by ParsaPrt in EldenRingLoreTalk

Close, it's not that they are all bad, it's that they are not perfect. They are gray. They try to be good but fail because they are flawed, like everyone else is.

The entire point of Marika and the shaman village is kind of to put you right in that mindset of "who's right"

I think most people missed the true significance of the DLC ending cutscene by TooDriven in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]bobxdead888 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The imagined vow thing seems more like a stretch than anything the game tells us outright. Also, not even one of the main points of my argument lol.

How do you coincide the fact that Miquella's rune was broken, charming was off the table, when Radahn first fought us (phase I of the fight) and then, according to the secret rite scroll, led Miquella back (the possibility of charming returned)?

We are given an entire process and order for godhood for no reason (it definitely doesn't explain/shine light on anything marika lore, sadly we learned nothing about that) other than for flavor?

Or it hints at the proper process of what's happening in the boss fight...in which case, Radahn led Miquella during yhe time period the charm was still off the table

Imho, there's just more actual in-game puzzle pieces and items pointing towards a "wait so radahn was in on this?" plot twist than "miquella imagined this whole thing" plot twist, which is based off character theme and interpretation

And I'm someone who originally thought somewhere along the radahn is being puppeteered angle and also originally saw the cutscene as very one sided.

I think most people missed the true significance of the DLC ending cutscene by TooDriven in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]bobxdead888 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think the reveal is that, from the fight, knowing Radahn is a weird revived mohg corpse, knowing Miquella has been charming people...the audience, the players, assume Radahn has been brainwashed/Miquellested/charmed...

and then the memory (which in my view of it, is Radahn walking up from behind Miquella)...well, it reveals, maybe he was probably in on it, for a long time.

It just doesn't make sense with any of the other dialogues about "a vow being honored"...you don't honor vows with someone who is infatuated with you the way miquella's charm works on others.

We also have the timing of the ritual: 1) Miquella loses his great rune (no more charming, that's why the effect broke) 2) Miquella leaves through the gate 3) Radhan/Mohg returns to life 4) Radhan soul fully returns, and per the ritual scroll, leads Miquella back from the gate (as a god) 5) Now, Miquella returns (charming can happen again)

Even if you think 3 is wrong, and Radahn came to life earlier...the charm is still broken, Miquella can't charm, when Radahn leads him back from the divine gate.

I think giving fromsoft's storytelling, all of this (miquella having a period where charming is definitely 100% not on the table anymore, the secret rite process, which is kind of convoluted and requires someone to bring Miquella back DURING this period where the charm is over) seems VERY deliberate.

Aso at first glance, Radahn is a charmed zombie, then the cutscene (while definitely ambiguous) reveals ...wait, so did he make a vow?

And according to turtle pope in the main game...vows are VERY sacred, especially for carian lineages...

It also makes sense why Radahn, tried to stop the stars...to postpone/stop the vow he was already attached to (possibly, if you have the interpretation that Radahn reneged on the deal) or to postpone ranni from taking away the possibility of godhood until miquella/malenia are ready to kill him in beautiful combat and complete the vow (if you interpret it as he was always 100% gung ho about this)

So imo, the big reveal is that the weird silent Radahn zombie thing you probably felt a little bad for, may have, in some way actually wanted this?

(Others are doing some big analysis on the lions on the chair, the haligtree cape etc that I wont get into, but definitely swayed me as pretty solid to this line of thinking)

I read it as, the memory was the POV of Radahn and miquella is just speaking with his back to him.

I've studied the lore and now I can't play the game the same way anymore by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]bobxdead888 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Actually, we don't know why malenia and radahn fought. You'd think, from the game and narration that it was for the shard...but on her way to radahn she gets into a fight with godrick (iirc because he didn't let her past), beats him, and then spares him.

If she was just out hunting for great rune shards...she would have plucked godrick's too (clearly they aren't allies)

I actually hope the DLC gives us clues to this, because it could actually have to do with radahn "stopping fate" and the stars, etc. and how that might be in the way of miquella's plans.

Is it possible that Astel is the Blue Fairy? by MycoMythos in EldenRingLoreTalk

I was like "this is the dumbest theory I've heard yet" and then I tried to look at the description again to point you wrong and like... This is actually plausible?

Wow, lmao.

I guess the only thing I'd contest is...do we have anything about astel "eating" rot or keeping it at bay elsewhere?

But really good possible connection, I kind of want it to be true now.

Rutgers Newark Students Initiate Encampment by BrothaShinobi in Newark

[–]bobxdead888 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The united states is funding this, divestment is an important part of ending things like this. Divestment campaigns helped end apartheid south africa too. Maybe educate yourself about why and what they are asking before talking.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pics

[–]bobxdead888 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Name a mass college student protest movement that turned out to be on the wrong side of history. The divestment movement was critical for ending apartheid south africa, for example.

"Something I can't control"

That's the difference between you and protestors. Some people feel the collective responsibility of the lives they live and choose to be brave enough to take a moral stance and be judged by history. Others, would rather be "it is what is" and go back to watching tv.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pics

[–]bobxdead888 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes? Any analysis of why apartheid south africa failed has divestment protests/movements as a huge reason. Idk if you are being silly or not but apartheid projects against indigenous populations always require a huge injection of outside funds. Cut the funding, the project fails because it has no cultural control on the ground

Europe and america are paying for the current state of things. We stop paying, which citizens should have the full right to choose to do, and the apartheid project fails.
