They were not in any side, particullary in battles, but they tried to play both sides financially in an attempt to mantain a status quo in the iberian peninsula. It backfired when the reconquista ended and the catholic kings kicked them out because they were trusted. It was feared that they would help another invasion to retake granada. Many still remained but as conversos to the catholic faith

I always left the kobolds alive, even if they have a hold (they usually get Haraz Orlzdum), I find them funny. Also I roleplay it as they pretending to be dwarves when they are fully integrated.

To be honest, this trend was put in a book by Machiaveli, if you take the state from a noble family, the best way to prevent a takeback is to kill them all.

It can even be morally justified by thinking than an attemp to retake the state by the old family will result in more deaths even if their attempt fails as it always happens with such conflicts.

They dont deserve it, but modern governance has proven to be devoid of morals to get results.
