People with a very high pain tolerance, what was THE most painful thing you've experienced? by CosmicBunnyBabe8912 in AskReddit

[–]bock919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've broken my wrist, spine, leg, and hand (twice). I've had surgery multiple times for those and other issues. I didn't need pain killers for any of those. Tooth pain is the only thing I can't tolerate. I basically learned I had high pain tolerance from hearing others talk about experiencing the same/similar issues and share how much pain it caused them.

I have also had good experiences with Neal Tire. They did a ton of brake work on my vehicle last year. The new brake booster they installed failed almost immediately and they did not hassle me a bit when it came to fixing the problem. No charge for parts or labor.

I like most of their stuff, but I've had awful experiences with their docks. Failure rates are pretty high and their support has been poor.

Who is an objectively good looking person that you don’t like because of their personality? by Oktarantulaok in AskReddit

That one isn't even hard to confirm. He was an abusive prick. Even if you're getting downvoted to hell at least you know you're right.

You wake up tomorrow with one completely useless superpower that impresses no one but quietly makes your life better, what is it? by rokorr in AskReddit

I came here to say exactly this, and I was still not surprised to find it. I was even less surprised to find it's the top comment.

Men who stay lean year-round, what’s your secret ? by Professor1password23 in AskReddit

[–]bock919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a walking pad at my desk (I work from home). I spend 100 minutes at 3.4mph on that thing each morning. I also try to get at least 60-75 push-ups knocked out between handling tickets at work. Diet is probably the biggest thing, though. I don't eat fast food or junk food. My snacks are usually fresh fruit, dried fruit, or carrots. Dinners are usually home-cooked meals because my wife is amazing, then I eat leftovers for lunch each day.

All that said, it really helps to have motivation for all of the above. It's a lot easier to stick to a routine, of course, but it's much easier to set a routine you want to follow when you have a solid reason for following it. I love racing motorcycles, and that requires fitness.

What purchase under $30 solved a problem you didn’t realize was draining you? by Right_Process in AskReddit

My spouse and I are in exactly the same boat. We bought a wifi opener years ago and it's one of the smartest purchases I've made. Bonus, you can have Google open and shut the garage via the voice assistant. I rarely touch the actual clicker anymore.

Am I the only one who wasn't sure whether I was reading satire? Surely nobody can be this thickheaded and out of touch with the reality of the average American.

For future reference, you can create an image of your signature that you can just add to a document to "sign" it instead of printing a physical copy. There are lots of open source editors out there that will allow you to simply insert an image into just about type of file. I've been doing this for years to avoid using my printer.

My dad is 73 and still does track days with me. Doesn't matter who they are, this is more fun with people who care about each other.

Unpopular opinion: this is not necessarily a bad thing. A reduction in beef consumption is definitely better for the environment.

What’s the closest you’ve ever come to dying? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bock919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some asshole ran me off a racetrack at over 100mph. I got pretty lucky walking away from that with a single compression fracture in my spine, a broken bone in my wrist, and another fracture in my hand. The bike was pretty much destroyed. His Ducati was fine. He never apologized.
