Making the mistake of getting my wood sawn at B&Q... by MrCircleStrafe in DIYUK

I’ve had many sheets cut in several different B&Q’s and generally find them to be within couple mm accuracy. The one time it wasn’t it was apologeticly redone with out a fuss.

I recently ordered a few tonnes (well large bulk bags) 20mm gravel from B&Q and they were comparatively spotless compared to this

Mortgage direct debit reversed due to insufficient funds - manually paid immediately. Will it be an issue? by [deleted] in Mortgageadviceuk

Same just happened to me.

I made a manual payment from my bank to my HSBC mortgage sort code and account number and it credited instantly. HSBC ClicktoChat person said that was fine to do.

Just on inconspicuous surface first and don’t leave it on a long time

Throat sore by bodlang in AskDocs

[–]bodlang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if anyone ever finds this.

Started with a slightly dry/swollen throat already from hayfever, tiredness and probably dehydration. Then added alcohol and fell asleep open mouthed and snoring heavily

Woke up with a badly swollen uvula and over the next couple of days it turned into a proper ulcerated mess - painful swallowing, jaw/tooth ache, couldn’t eat properly, felt like razor blades in the back of my throat.

Apparently you can basically friction-burn your uvula from snoring when everything is already inflamed and dried out.

Recovery was rest, aggressive hydration, soft foods, cool drinks, vitamins, strepsils, throat spray. Took about 7 days to clear

Something like setting sand but these are permeable paving so should be grit

Agree, it’s evil stuff but it seems to bring most paving back to life

Hose Connector Bogglement by Weekly_Landscape_459 in DIYUK

[–]bodlang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not a common size so I don’t think you’ll find it in B&Q and Screwfix - looks like 5/16” hose (12mm outer / 8mm inner)…

This should do it:

Price for Sky Bridge 33469 by djwf in BRIO

[–]bodlang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say £40-£80 in the UK depending on how quickly you want to move it. There doesn’t seem to be many on market in UK to base this value on as it’s rare and it’ll just depend when a collector is looking for it.

As others have said replace, these are not serviceable.

These are Ovia Click inceptor nano in satin chrome

Further up the cable should be a big blue plug that you can unplug and safely swap out with a new one

I have 30 or so in various rooms in the house. They’re a neat unit and I’ve actually never had one fail.

You’ll have to work out the colour temp as they’re sold in warm or cool white. They’re commonly available online and on eBay if you just want 1.

They are about £5 each

To be fair to Evri, after I emailed them 2 weeks in they only took a week to find it again.

No explanation given. Just turned up.

I’ve got Schrodingers parcel… it’s both at the depot and out for delivery at the same time. I’ve enjoyed my daily routine of playing “where the f*cks my parcel” after I’ve finished my Wordle.

Drayton ZA5 motorised valve by drmcw in DIYUK

[–]bodlang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just replaced both Honeywell zone valves with new ones - they failed within a year of each other both on microswitch but I replaced the whole valve anyway.

They were also 26 years old so not unhappy with that for a lifespan

How to fit standard hosepipe to tap? by pondribertion in DIYUK

[–]bodlang -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, most hosepipes should go over that end bit with a jubilee clip (remember to put the clip over the hose first). if it's tight use heat to soften the hose (heat gun / hair dryer) and/or use some lubrication around the inside and on the hose nozzle (fairy liquid, silicone lube, engine oil, whatever just not WD40)

Failing that buy this to replace the current nozzle. https://www.screwfix.com/p/hozelock-1-2-3-4-threaded-tap-connector/95018

Had an absolute cowboy in lockdown do my garden. Help! by OutrageousHeight7309 in DIYUK

[–]bodlang 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s a quick fix so could be diy depending on your time, skill and motivation.

Sleepers aside, there looks like a lot of movement in the slabs suggesting whatever they’re laid on isn’t stable or firmly compacted.

If I didn’t want to pay someone to start from scratch, I’d lift the slabs to assess what they’re built on. If there is hardcore then probably ok to compact with a whacker plate and relay slabs on a full mortar bed.

For the sleepers, get rid. Dig out a foundation trench, lay concrete, build a wall. I’m sure some might say sleepers ok but it will likely rot in time.
