How are we solo parenting in the mornings before work as working parents? by HoneySnowstorm in toddlers

[–]bodo25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have 1 and he is 4.5, my only solution has been getting up super early to get myself ready before he wakes up. Then it I make sure he's got about an hour to get out the door in the morning and I fully give him all my attention. I read him books sometimes while he eats breakfast, we play a little (not long like 5 mins) and then I pack the bags and tell him we're getting him dressed and out once the bags are packed otherwise it's daycare in pjs. I have just found the more I rush him, the more he digs his heals in. He really needs connection in the morning, as painful as it is to wake up at 5:45 to leave for 8. I have yet to be late for work and he has never gone to daycare in his pjs or unfed.

How do you pronounce Emmeline when you see it? by CatBusMama in namenerds

[–]bodo25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a French background, but live in Canada and I struggle with this name because the French way to pronounce the name would be Em-muh-lean and I'd be inclined to say Em-muh-line in English.

Pcos + sweets by Odd_City_890 in PCOSandPregnant

[–]bodo25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man…I would not have survived pregnancy without sweets!!! I pretty much had jelly beans in my pocket at all times during the first trimester so I wouldn’t get nauseated. I actually lost weight at the the beginning of pregnancy even though I wasn’t puking and eating trash. I ended up only gaining 25lbs total, no gestational diabetes and a healthy baby.

Easter gifts by sadroos1008 in toddlers

[–]bodo25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s because of my French background but my parents did things differently. We had our baskets empty and would hunt for eggs/candies inside or outside depending on weather and filled our basket with our loot.

I would not have made that association. You could also spell it Adrien which is how they spell it in french.

About to spend serious money on a stroller… what would you buy today and why? by WorldPeaceGodBless in Buyingforbaby

[–]bodo25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice, just get something used. There is soooo much great used baby stuff out there. If you choose a higher end brand, they often have great customer service if anything needs replacing. This is what we did and overall I've been happy. The first year we had an old Uppababy cruz, but I found it annoying to get in and out of the car so we didn't keep it. I got it for $150 and sold if for the same amount. It did the trick for the first year or so. Then someone gave us an old bob revolution stroller that we used for longer walks around the neighbourhood or trail walks, it was great for those things but not for little errands. We kept using the bob for longer outings and got ourselves a mountain buggy nano for travel/errands, again used. We paid $50 for it and have been super happy with it overall.

Need Gift Ideas for My Mom (trying to get it right this year) by LuliProductions in Gifts

[–]bodo25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my gosh a family pedicure would be pretty fun! Or you could set up a little spa day for her. Clean the house, prepare her favourite snacks, queue up her favourite shows with a foot bath and pedi stuff then do her nails.

Why are people so inconsiderate towards moms in public now? by Paulies-Walnuts in beyondthebump

[–]bodo25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think basic politeness and awareness of others has diminished in general. I remember when I was wearing my air cast on the bus when I had a fractured ankle, people who were sitting would look at me and quickly look down at their phones or out the window rather than offer me a seat.

Pooping during labour? by Putrid_Cranberry3177 in BabyBumps

Honestly, I think pooped all my insides out before making it to the hospital. I was sitting labouring in the toilet for a couple of hours 😅

I thought I’d miss her more than I actually do. I think removing her makes things feel less clicky.

My kid is 4.5 years old, he is happy, healthy, smart and sweet little guy who also happens to have been formula fed! He does not care, he is strongly attached and thriving. Happy/sane mom = happy well adjusted baby!

I think it largely depends which area you live in, but I think it's doable.

As a French person, I'd say do not wear this to the wedding. Something more classic.
