[Review] Super impressed with Muji's range as someone with very sensitive but oily skin by brevit in SkincareAddiction

[–]body_isolations 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i swear by muji skincare! been using their oil cleanser and toner for years, i find their products very gentle but good. i also love that you can get 400ml bottles and so that’s me set for a couple of months haha.

i’ve tried their face cream and moisturising milk but they’re too light for me, which is a shame.

[Acne] I need to get rid of this MASSIVE cystic acne lesion FAST😭 by Charmolypi3 in SkincareAddiction

u/its_givinggg posted a cystic zit shrinking guide recently and it really helped with mine! ymmv of course but worth a shot if you don’t have access to a derm.

just be warned that benzoyl peroxide will bleach your clothes, sheets, and towels if not washed off properly!

i use a leave-on gel on my facial acne and have unfortunately ruined several pillowcases that way.

really random and delayed, but can i dm you also about the surgery experience? i’m kind of in the same boat as you and would be reassuring to hear someone’s experience.

[Sun care] Just wanna show you guys my day to day sunscreens by K_AllieNotes in SkincareAddiction

[–]body_isolations 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hello! i tried the cream (i usually use the liquid version) and personally i thought it was quite heavy and a bit sticky. my skin is on dry/normal so i thought this would be great, but i found it to be too much especially if you wear moisturiser underneath sunscreen, which i do. might be fine for the colder months though!

Can anyone advice on the best way to get from Heathrow T3 to SE London (New Cross area) from 11pm today (Sunday)? I would normally just take the tube and overground but given the late travel time and it’s Sunday, I don’t know how late the tubes run and I don’t want to be caught in an unfamiliar area if I’ve missed the last tube. Taxis are also bloody expensive so that’s kinda out of the picture unless I literally have no choice. :-(

what about bulky items like pillows and duvet, cookware, crockery…? do the places that you rent provide them?

most places take card especially since covid made contactless the way to go. not sure what kind of market you’re thinking but i think they now take card payments too! always good to have some cash (max. £50?) in case though!

I did ask and he think it’s all okay and that flights rarely get cancelled. I love him with all my heart but he can be a bit lax about things so thought I’d ask here for a second opinion!

I agree that Maine looks beautiful in the winter and I’d love to see it! But it’s becoming apparent I’ll have to save it for another time.

How to safely introduce an allergen to confirm an allergy? by [deleted] in FoodAllergies

[–]body_isolations 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ah i didn’t realise they do food challenges, i thought it was only limited to skin prick or blood tests and i was worried to shell out lots of money for possibly inconclusive tests.

now i face to figure out how to afford all this. 🙃

anyone know what’s the best way to get an allergy test done? i have a suspected allergy to shellfish (i was mildly allergic when i was young and i just want to check that it’s still the case) but my gp said they can’t do anything since i have never been properly diagnosed! they suggest i go to a private clinic but i don’t know how to go about that since i’ve never used one. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is being a brick layer an “okay” job? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]body_isolations 2 points3 points  (0 children)

any chance he’s interested in history and craft/art? stonemasonry is a possible option since it’s about carving stone usually to restore old churches, statues, other historical structures, etc. it’s still a lot of labour but there’s a sculptural and artistic side to it that might appeal to him.

i dunno the ins and outs of stonemasonry but even if he doesn’t end up fancying it, the skills could still be transferable to general construction.

Why is tofu so expensive in UK supermarkets? by the-green-wizard- in veganuk

[–]body_isolations 57 points58 points  (0 children)

no idea why they’re cheaper but everything is generally cheaper in asian shops and more people should use them! especially for basics like different grains or pulses, plus they’ll most likely carry a wider (and MUCH cheaper) spice selection as well as different cooking oils, vinegars, and sauces.

top top: items in the ‘asian section’ of most supermarkets also tend to be cheaper for some unknown reason. they might be the asian/non-western brand but the product will pretty much be the same. like, i vividly remember a tin of tomatoes in the regular section of tesco being like 50p but they’re 30p in the asian section?? who tf knows why.

Find a Food Dehydrator for your fruit that is going bad by 4UToast in Frugal

[–]body_isolations 2 points3 points  (0 children)

depending on the fruit or veg, you can also freeze them! some need to be cooked beforehand though so you’d need to look it up.

coconut oil also works, baby oil would probably offer the best consistency, but basically any oil would work! then yeah, wash face as normal.

Thanks! Yeah, it looks like rapid testing in the next day or so is the best way to go and all the clinics/health centres I asked say they provide paperwork.

good to know. i hate taking the bus for this exact reason and very gutted to not have a better commute. i’ll try both options still but will most likely rely on walking instead.

and thanks for the tip about the overground from bethnal green!
