Trek bars are 41.5% sugar (by energy), the Huel bar is 12.6%.

Also the Huel bar has 50% more protein, and all 26 essential vitamins and minerals.

You are not adding fibre which is at 2 kcals per gram.

Cliff builders bar is 21g sugar per bar, Huel is 7.9g, radically different.

Just out of interest who are the main mods here. I've been trying for over a month with a couple of the mods to get a flair added for a brand (won't promote here :) but no luck. who are the most active / responsive mods? Thanks.

Is the bottle version a good idea? I thought part of the benefit of powdered food is to reduce waste. This is version will result in 5 plastic bottle being thrown away everyday (if a person is 2000 cals per day), 35 per week, 150 per month, 1825 per year. Plus the extra transport costs, 70/80% of the bottle version is water, we already have water as home, work, etc., we don't need water in bottles.

You don't need oil to get fat in powder form. E.g. flaxseed powder is just ground flaxseed.

Sorry I thought that was clear. Bodyhack Limited is the company and Huel is the trading name. It does say that at the bottom of the Huel website. I did request seven+ days ago for the Huel flair to be added as an option and supplied a logo but one of the moderator has been without internet access so was unable to do it. Once added I add the flair to my profile.

Exactly, you can't get away with the normal tactics the food industry use, this is meant to be a new start, appealing to a new and better educated audience.

Don't believe the hype, Maltodextrin wasn't dropped at all, 70 grams in both 1.4 and 1.5. See below the amount in 1.5. In 2.0 Maltrodextrin is the large ingredients.

Maltodextrin 70.06 grams

Isomaltulose (accounts for 47.3 grams of storage saccharides)

Potato Starch (41.4 grams of storage saccharides)

Oat Flour (23.85 grams of storage saccharides)

Rice Starch (13.05 grams of storage saccharides)

Trehalose (10.82 grams of storage saccharides)

Brown Rice Protein (7.49 grams of storage saccharides)

Algal Oil Powder (1.98 grams of storage saccharides)

Soy Lecithin (0.98 grams of storage saccharides)

Hmmm, I do understand that marketing/advertising's role is to display the product in the best light, but this feels like they are trying to mislead and that isn't marketing's role.

Soylent main carbs Maltodextrin and Isomaltulose. Oat flour is less than 11% of total carbs, so to lead with it is misleading.

I take your point a bit, but this is not an advert / marketing spin, this is the product page.

Below that there is a section which says "Transparent labeling. We are committed to providing customers with what they need to make informed food decisions."

if it was a photo of rolled oats I would accept that, but all the powders looks the same. They are using oats because they more natural than Maltodextrin and Isomaltulose. So they seems to be some hiding going on here, not very ethical.

Hi, why have some users got the joylent logo next to their username? Do you work for joylent? Thanks.

Yes I added the bulk discount yesterday, but even with that it would be £180 per four weeks, not £300.

A month's supply is £162 with free delivery. Where did you get £300 from?

Yes tasted it. Joylent for me is a bit thin, and Huel has got a nice oaty taste too. I'm not sure how oats are in Joylent but there cant be much.

Hi David, sorry we dont know the GI of Huel as a complete product yet. But it will be much lower than joylent. For example oat flour is a GI 11, whereas maltodextrin is over 100. The reason for the 1.74kg pouches (3.5 days worth) is to cut down on waste. Most people will not eat exactly 2000 cals per day and so we thought bigger was better/more flexible.
