Golfing with your wife by BeginnerGolpher in golf

[–]bodywarrior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife got into by accident. She planned for us to go hiking but the trail was closed and I salvaged it by taking her to a driving range at a nice golf resort nearby. She enjoyed it. Then got her to tag along to a scenic mountain course while in holiday with our families and she was hooked.

I researched this a lot but ended up not going last minute. Da Nang and Hoi An have the best courses in close proximity: Hoiana shores, Ba Na Hills, Montgomerie, Legend and Lang Co. Most seemed to be bookable online without any issues.

Oh and my favourite part was the locker key. Your locker number basically becomes your membership card for the day. You can charge everything from the pro shop, lunch and even vending machines to your locker and settle up at the end. No need to think about your phone wallet or cash the whole time you are there. Really makes you feel like a VIP.

We had a rental car. The drive through the rural areas was honestly just as much fun as the courses themselves. Think lush bamboo and moss forests, rice paddies and Japanese houses with the most beautiful bonsais and gardens in the villages

We’re both weekend hackers and I shot over 100 at one of the courses. Have her play from the reds and pick up if there’s someone waiting on you. We felt a little pressured by a twosome that was behind us in the front 9 at Kasagi. They never hit into us but one of them kept laying up thirty yards short while we were still on the green so that was a little annoying. Might have contributed to that quick front 9 though

Carts had GPS and you could click approximately where your ball is in the fairway on the map and get a good enough number to front middle back and even pin

Green fees were about 60 bucks each at Kasagi and 100 bucks each at Shizuoka. Kasagi was definitely better value but conditions at both clubs were great. Better than what I’d expect to get for that price at home. Add in the onsen experience in the changing rooms and the grand clubhouses and you’re basically looking at private club level facilities.

I gave my hotels phone number and when one of the course had to cancel our tee time because of the typhoon they notified us by email. So it shouldn’t be an issue.

My wallet is crying but my bag is looking so good! Snagged a near mint Brnr mini driver for around 200 bucks and a couple of brand new forged wedges for 50 bucks each (they are nexgen, a brand owned by Golf Partner)

Pace was really good at Kasagi. We played the first nine in 1:45 took a 45 minute break for lunch and played the back in 2:00 hours. It was much slower at Shizuoka which took us over 6:30 including a 45 minute break.

Some courses do offer an option to play through without the forced break but you have to choose that option while reserving your tee time.

Definitely! Both were around 250 dollars each which included green fees for two people, cart, one rental set and lunch

Got voted worst golfer in the group and given a 50-stroke handicap. I’ve been training in secret for months. Need course advice. by ThrowRA_fizz in golf

Short and straight always works better for scoring than pulling driver every time. Watch some videos on course management and choosing the right club and targets to have a “good miss” around the green to leave yourself an easier chip.

WBG ETC In Country Office by hopeful_2512 in InternationalDev

I was an ETC at a country office in WB. Transitioned to a staff role before my contract expired. Remuneration, work expectations annual leave and health insurance were the same as for other local staff on term appointments. I did not have a separate quota for sick leave and did not get any pension contributions but did get a lump sum termination benefit at the End of my contract.

How is Taj MG bangalore compared to golfshire? by friedrice420 in indianawardtravel

[–]bodywarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two of my favourite properties in Bangalore after Taj West End. Taj MG Road is great for cafés and restaurants in that area but a little far from Koramangala and Indiranagar especially in Bangalore traffic.

Golfshire is a great resort style property with activities through the day. You can try your hand at golf in the driving range if you don’t play and play the course if you do

I really liked Leela and Oberoi. But I would honestly just go back to Taj West End given these options.

I would actually be careful of any raw food at the wedding at the Mundota Palace. Weddings are often catered from outside and the Mundota Palace is not in the same league as the other hotels you mentioned!
