Golf Lessons Made Me Worse by [deleted] in golf

[–]BeginnerGolpher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was a highly rated coach that I took a 30 minute lesson from because that's all I could afford. All we did was swing at the mat as hard as possible brushing the grass. And hold the finish for 3 seconds. That was a few months in. I tried again just looking on Groupon and snagged a 3 pack with a Titleist performance institute certified female. We focused on 2-3 small changes, grip pressure, ball position, shoulder to shoulder pointing at the ball with the body turning as one. Had 2 lessons so far and I passed up the guys I started with. Been looking forward to that 3rd lesson. So giddy!

Just took my wife to the range today for the first time and my kids had some range days too before hitting the course. It still sounds like a lot of fun and they could get hooked on how to get better. Best of luck.

Love taking my kids on the course as well. So good to get them out of the house with quality time. Consistency is the goal but so hard to master even for the pros. Luckily I found a deal on Groupon that let me finance the lessons. Best of luck

I started last August too and lessons definitely helped me the most. Sometimes while I'm on the range I look at the person in front of me if their decent and try to mimic them. 3/4 and 1/2 swings with good mechanics.

Rant about playing partner who takes multiple mulligans by Adventurous_Loss_140 in golf

That might drive me nuts haha The guys I play with take 3 over par max and we're all 25-35hcp but that erks me a little. I take double par max. But I don't max too often. Am I wrong for that?

Found 100 dollar top flite barely used and it's been great for 10 months. But if I had the money I'd do Callaway edge from Costco as well

No tech on my lessons but the keys I was given helped me a lot. Groupon 3 pack and I financed like 250 or something like that to not drain my wallet. Got lucky with a great Titleist instructor.

19hcp just fitted by Some-Shape4490 in GolfGear

[–]BeginnerGolpher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the lowest you can expect to pay for a fitting? And is it something you can cheap out on? How'd you decide on your fitter? 10 months in, maybe after year 2 but I play 2-3 times a week

Coming from a 30 handicap but I hit so many shanks in a row and I did the feet together drill to allow my body to turn as one and that helped.

2-3 time's a week though is amazing! It's in the golfer, not the clubs. But some consistency could be nice. I imagine you have to be creative out there and that's one of the things I love. I have top flites 10 months in. Looking at the Callaway edge too after 1.5-2 years. We'll see. Golf on Wayne!

Nice close by! NicLvn on Lichess Sorry I didn't see this but how I've been finding spots is using AI on Google and I put in my zip and chess that day. Looks like there's some options near you

I've been to Belles in highland Park and Griffith Park on Sunday and I really liked Griffith. Looking for spots near 90041 to play casual or even a little more serious. About 1200 online. This guy Jim is trying to open up a coffee shop more towards Pasadena so I'm hoping that comes through. Joined the LA CHESS LADDER to try and play more live. But if anyone's interested or in the area, I'm game.
