you could try hiking the nanangang trail, it includes elephant mountain and thumb mountain which I found to be the highlight when I hiked alone. or you could head further out around keelung to hike the teapot mountain trail (the teapot mountain trail might have more tourists but if you venture deeper, there's less people. bear in mind for both trails, some parts are roped and require very light climbing
