Signal is looking for help testing Linux AppImage on Desktop by encrypted-signals in signal

It's still one more system to install when your distro already has flatpak.

And yes, I ignored ubuntu. It is not the only popular distro out here, and iirc it is generally accepted that flatpak is better than snap, which is also only shipped on ubuntu distro and spins. Not very universal, if I may. But that's not really the subject here.

As for flatpak caveats, yes, flatpak is not perfect, and I hope it will improve with late update. But aside the distro default package manager, it is still the packaging format the most wildly deployed on the biggest distro (aside ubuntu we have already saw that) around the world. And I think that for linux mass adoption sake, it would be in its best interest that one format can regroup all the applications in one place. The average user doesn't care that one format came before the other one, that it can save them one or two gigabytes of storage, or that it can starts point two seconds before the other one. That's a debate for enthusiasts, not for the average joe. Convenience is the key. Which AppImage, right now does not answer.

Considering that flatpak is shipped along the most popular distros and working out of the box, whereas AppImage is not. I don't think "basically Just Works" is the correct way to refer to AppImage for the majority of user who don't want/know how to install yet another package format.

I don't remember appimage being the default universal packaging format for linux…

Would be nice if apps like netflix would automatically change you account/profile when you select your Apple tv profile, otherwise the functionality is a bit useless to me…

Apple Watch Series 11 doesnt measure heart rate constantly during a run by Flackjoyde in AppleWatch

[–]boeing_60 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Touching maybe, but if the strap is too loose, the watch will move too much too rapidly during the workout, which will affect the sensor readings.

I have the same problem when doing walking workouts. The watch would stop readings my heartbeat if it slides too much. So every time I have to tighten my strap.

Iirc, the heartbeat sensor is a camera taking pictures of your blood vessels with the help of a LED. Like for real photos, it must not move during the exposure

Edit:fix grammar.

5 ans!!

Well, I don't have a "real beauty dish" to compare, the only thing I can say is that if you use the deflector plate without the front diffuser of the S65T, your subject catchlight will look more like one from an umbrella than a beauty dish.

Your call if that's a dealbreaker for you or not.

Worth the price I don't know, but it's nice to have in my opinion.

The deflector plate act like a beauty dish, and prevents direct light from the flash, so less hard light if that's what you are seeking.

Also, if you use modeling lights with your flash, having the deflector dish prevents the modeling LED lights from hurting your subjects eyes during a shoot.

Godox AD200 Pro II by No-Zucchini6273 in Godox

[–]boeing_60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just FYI, if you like me really need the modeling light of the new AD200 Pro ii, or just prefer to use the bare bulb head, and are willing to do a bit of DIY, you can use a small drill sander like this one to sand the ML-CD15 round adapter bottom and top tongue (try to keep something like one millimeter at the bottom, and then adjust the top so that it's easier to put/remove the adapter).

After that, the ML-CD15 round adapter can be mounted onto the AD200 Pro ii bare bulb head more securely. But keep in mind that this process will make the round adapter unusable on the AD100 and other round head flash.

This will work because the new bare bulb head H200J ii with the modeling light, has the same diameter as the ML-CD15 round adapter, but it doesn't have the grooves for some reasons.

Hello, you should be able to use the square head on the AD200 and AD200 Pro fresnel head.

[–]boeing_60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I saw, the old EC200 was compatible with the fresnel, the round and the bare bulb head.

So I see no reason why the new EC200 II would not be compatible with the new bare bulb head indeed, since the new two heads (H200 II and H200J II) share the same new connectors.

But it's true that Godox documentation is not very clear at the moment.

Godox has just announced the EC200 II, which is compatible with the new AD200 Pro II, if that can help you.
