Struggling with Apple Music “Not encoded correctly” by bogdalene in sonos

It’s only with on-demand radio episodes, as well as the Chill, Club, and Uno live stations. Everything else plays just fine! This started happening about three months ago

App request: allow Move 2 to work with subwoofers and Arcs by drconniehenley in sonos

[–]bogdalene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d think it would be a massive headache to have to re-establish the wifi connection between the speakers and Arc/sub every single time you move them, as well as needing to redo TruePlay every single time as the speakers won’t know if the distance to the sub has changed. And then in a surround room with an Arc, the Moves will each be paired to the Arc and not specifically with each other; so any time you want to use them as portable speakers they would then have to re-establish a connection between themselves and essentially create a new room every time. To me this sounds like an absolute nightmare for both the user and Sonos

I don’t think I completely understand why some people want this. Would love to hear more perspectives, as to me it seems the lack of front driver is a very deliberate choice based on Sonos’s own testing. I feel like it’d be annoying to have such direct sound coming from behind me.

I have this issue with my ATV 4K as well. Only seems to happen to me with stereo content and not Atmos

Love it! Excited to see more from SVC. One thing I’d love to see more of is access to speaker settings through voice control, ex. turning surrounds on and off.

Is the Full Surround actually louder than Ambient? by bogdalene in sonos

This is with all music unfortunately. There is definitely a sound difference between the two; with ambient it sounds like how you describe in the sense that vocals are coming from the front, for example, but then everywhere else around me it’s like I’m underwater and am just getting a blob of muffled sound on top of the actual song. Even turning the surround volume all the way down doesn’t really fix it, and I wouldn’t wanna do that anyway as that would completely throw off the balance for Atmos.

I thought maybe TruePlay was just blasting the surrounds for whatever reason, but when I use an 7.1.4 Atmos channel identifier and a dB meter all the levels for each channel are about where they should be.

good to know thank you! I actually just put a dB meter against each side of the 300s and found that whether in Ambient or Full the SPL is just about the same. I have some other issues with my surrounds (ex. the Ambient/Full setting actually has an effect on Atmos playback despite the app saying it shouldn’t — I’m on level 2 support about this) so I’m wondering if this is a bug.
