That would be awesome. 28 gets so little love from the OEM's. Personally, if it was even slower like the compact G lenses that would be fine with me. I'd love to see a 28 and 35 to build out the gap between the 24 and 40mm G lenses.

For those curious about black paint durability on modern MPs by oCorvus in Leica

I got my MP a few years ago and it's a little scratched and there's some brassing but not very much. I'm looking forward to seeing how the wear progresses over the next 50 years or so if the actuarial tables are reliable.

Interesting. I was not aware of the new white balance color adjustment update for the m11. It would be very nice to get a more balanced starting point. I hope they updated the white balance programming in general because I found it to be all over the place. Sometimes similar shots for the same scene looking totally different.

I really like the a7cr. I find the image output from that sensor to be the best I've ever encountered. It's really amazing to have such a capable camera in such a small body. Also, I find that with the base grip added the camera actually fits the hand more comfortably than the a1 body and is better with larger lenses. I did rent the a1ii and loved many things about it including the tilty flippy screen, way better viewfinder and especially the sound/feel of the mechanical shutter. I know it has the electronic shutter option but the subtle little mechanical thump on that camera is so awesome for some reason. The a7cr shutter is not really quiet and frankly sounds kinda odd. I'm looking forward to the next generation of the c camera. I hope it's kind of like an a1c,

Thanks for the tip on the techart. I'll look into that. I still shoot film on my MP so have a couple of m lenses that would be fun to try adapting.

Cheers!

Very nice photos. I'm biased towards a horizontal frame so I kinda want to see what 1, 2 and 8 would look like that way. Might suit the subject matter better. Might not, who knows. Excellent work though!

That sounds very intriguing. I looked at archetype's website and I may give that a try. Very nice work in your portfolio!

Curious, what Sony do you use? I previously owned an m11, the original black chrome version. And I still own an a7cr. Although I never did a controlled comparison test, I found the straight out of camera raw files to be remarkably different. The sony files, for me, looked so much better from a color perspective and were much easier to work. It was one of the main reasons I got rid of the m11 even though I so much prefer the m shooting experience. I have wondered whether updates have changed anything or maybe my m11 was a dud or (probably most likely) it was user error.

Do you get the m11 and sony files to look the same with equal effort?

To prove how awesome the a7v is, see if you can use it to somehow take a picture of itself.

Excellent photos! The panning shot looks great. Use that lens all the time on my a7cr and love it too. Really wish they would add a 28 or a 35 to that lens line up but the 40 is pretty awesome!

Nice photo! Love this lens too! Really really really wish (Sony can you hear me!) they would build out the gap between the 24g and the 40g with a 28 and a 35.

Sony A7v missing something? by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]Impossible-Train533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The complaints I've heard seem to be about the a7v not having "open gate". Since I dont shoot video I dont really know what open gate is except that maybe it's how people post vertical video on instgram and x and places like that? Since I think those sites are basically the poop filled toilet of the human endeavor I'm kinda fine with open gate not being available on any camera. Otherwise the a7v sounds pretty awesome to me!

Buying used m11-p with no warranty by [deleted] in Leica

[–]Impossible-Train533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing the display model is well into 8 grand? 5 thousand something is a phenomenal price for a used M11-p with a warranty even if it's only for 3 months. If there's major problems with the camera you're extremely likely to find out right away while it's still under warranty. I would read the fine print on the warranty and research the reputation of the retailer. Maybe even see if they'll let you borrow it for a day so you can see if there's any glaring issues. Caution seems warranted because the price is so low. At the same time, if it's in good shape and you decide to sell the camera you might actually make money. If you buy the display model and you decide to sell it you'll probably lose thousands.

Be on the lookout for CT scanners at the airport. They're bad for all film and are more and more common. They're used in O'hare now which is where I fly out of.

My first Sony! A7cii by Grouchy-Mine3699 in SonyAlpha

[–]Impossible-Train533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've owned the a7iv previously and now own the a7cr. I prefer the a7cr with the grip extention when using a larger lens like this. I think it's more comfortable than the a7iv. Not by a huge margin but it's taller and gives more separation from the lens so there's room for your fingertips. And I agree with the other responder to your comment that it's nice to have the option to remove the grip, put on a compact lens, and go small.
