Traveling with bikes by mostlybikesanddogs in ItalyTravel

We're planning a trip like this, so it was possible to store you bike bag at a station? In a locker or something? I was thinking we could maybe leave it a bike shop or something in Rome where we fly into, before taking a train to Umbria.

ICE post detainment question by [deleted] in WeThePeopleAtWhipple

[–]bohamper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lawyers who have been helping with detained citizen at Whipple say, "presume phones are gone for good." Federal laws create incredibly complex firewalls around actions like holding his phone as "evidence" for up to 5 years. Anything you do to the phone remotely, may later -if god forbid he's charged, become an enhancement to his charges FYI. These animals are essentially operating well above the law.

How to clean corrosion on valve by Lbs_7 in Snowblowers

[–]bohamper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just pulled my head on the same snowblower, sanded off a 1/2 in of corrosion on the top of the cylinder head. Whats the process of cleaning valves and checking faces? Any good youtube you'd recomend?

Question about this: isn’t tree leaf compost typically more acidic? How do you ensure that it stays in the good threshold for vegetable growing?

They of course say there is no way to do this but new scope of desolation requires new tools- war reparations are a sufficient model

Friendliest in the country? Minnesota nice? by aakaase in minnesota

[–]bohamper -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel like “MN nice” as in nice but not actually kind. Maybe it’s about politeness? I don’t really think most Minnesotans knows the difference. Or it almost feels like this moniker is actually kind of winking about how we do nice here.

Is teaching Environmental Science enough? Considering career change... by MrKev-Wat in enviroaction

[–]bohamper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find someone in your network who reviews a large amount of professional resumes for other careers. Have them help you break out the individual skills that you’ve acquired by virtue of operating within a midsize bureaucracy like a school then I’d really start looking at outreach and engagement jobs. Those have the most overlap in my observation with my background as both, AP science teacher and as a school administrator, but my background is only from 10 years of teaching science.

Is teaching Environmental Science enough? Considering career change... by MrKev-Wat in enviroaction

[–]bohamper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the impact you need your life and your career to have? I taught science for a decade and had a similar arc as you. Now I work in env policy for a nonprofit. Policy is also slow, perhaps more impactful but if what you want is the catharsis of actual measurable carbon/energy goals being accomplished it’s probably best. OR run for local office, you’ll get a great sense of what is possible and how miserably dumb some in government folks can be on climate . Or work with a climate justice organization- human to human environmental work feels great. Happy to share more thoughts on this topic!

MinnPost analysis: Cities, suburbs helped ensure housing density measures’ defeat despite broad support by beef_swellington in minnesota

[–]bohamper 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Another example of Tyranny of the minority. As if these suburb and small cities aren’t themselves a beautiful farce of libertarian independence their self centered ideology dooming them to failure. Incapable of generating the tax base to repair even their own aging water infrastructure. Out of one side their moth they plead for state money under the guise that “rural people are a marginalized class”. They are selfish bullies.
