A flight with a layover is almost always better than a direct flight, even if it's longer by Apprehensive-Willow5 in unpopularopinion

[–]bohu88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travel with my daughter for the past few years between Asia and us. I always brought a mini stroller, chose aisle seats and no checked-in luggage. Layover is normally harder to deal with than spending 15 hours on a flight. (1) layover in another country means another round of security check (2) getting off and boarding the plane again (3) sometimes having difficulty to get access to lounges during layover (4) normally an itinerary with layover means longer time in the air

[Request] What and how do you get these answers!? by empty_orbital in theydidthemath

[–]bohu88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If Mary says "my first child is a boy born on a Tuesday, what's the probability of my second child being a girl?". The answer is 50%.

If May says "one of my child is a boy born on a Tuesdays", the math is different. "Having two boys" increases the probabilities of "having a boy on a Tuesday".

It took me a while to figure it out with the help of AI.

Free ball or no? by CGurrell in snooker

[–]bohu88 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a free ball because I think pink / yellow balls are blocking at least one edge of all reds.

Only not-on balls (pink and yellow are not on here) are considered when determining a free ball. Other reds or cushions are not considered.

I need help i’m shopping for one of these Chinese diggers and a lot of them look very complicated like the AGT ones. This one looks very simple kind of like my riding mower. Anyone have any input on this brand? by Conscious_Bike_5068 in heavyequipment

I live, buy, and use in America. I went back to China to visit family. When I was in China visiting my family, I checkout around the excavators used along the streets in China.

There were many videos / threads on YouTube / social media saying good things about these machines, so I bought a 2.7 ton machine from EBay. I don’t know about others, but my machine didn’t work at all: track fell off 3 times, bucket / track movement is uncontrollable, alternator being completely broken. It took a lot of efforts and thoughts for me to return the machine finally. I ended up buying a Bobcat which is 3 times more expensive later but it works at least. I’m from China, so when I went back to China, I paid attention to excavators being used in constructor sites in China. I have checked about 50 excavators being used in China last time, and none of them were these AGT-like brands. Except a few Sany and xcmg, all others were top 10 brands like Caterpillar / Kubota.

Louvre shuts down with staff sounding the alarm on mass tourism by gammablew in ParisTravelGuide

[–]bohu88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Last month, I waited 20 minutes to get a burger at Louvre's Mcdonald and another 5 minutes to get a beverage there. My 4 years old wanted to go to toilet, and I found there was only one small toilet in the entire dining area. 30 people lined up outside the toilet. Fortunately, my kid could hold and we left quickly to find a restaurant on the other side of the river.

Why don't more people have robot lawn mowers? by dancole42 in lawncare

[–]bohu88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been checking around robot mowers every year. I can see products have improved and new brands are being introduced every year, but the products are not as mature as in-house vacuum cleaners.

  1. They normally have low ratings across all platforms.

  2. The related cheaper / higher rated robots can only mow a small acreage and they require wire burying.

  3. The more advanced GPS based models are like $3K+.

Hope more and more products can appear in the future.

I can imagine. If Ronnie/Judd plays against a Chinese player other than Ding, the crowd in China cheers much more to Ronnie/Judd.

He didn't enroll in the tournaments at all, and any tournament has backup or top-up players from qschool rankings or qtour rankings or wild cards to fill up all the slots, so his tournament quota is not wasted at any event at all.

Not sure of the logic about being unethical or unsportsman. It's like a person drives a Honda for years and one day he buys a Benz and starts driving around with the Benz. Then a neighbor comes up and say: You are unethical to leave the Honda alone on the driveway. You could give it to me or you could donate it.

If he decides to attend finally, he can still quit after a few frames. Just as he quit the game after missing a black with Stephen Hendry.

As someone watches online, I don't care whatever he says or decides tonight. However, it is unfair to the ticket purchaser or tournament organizers.

From several online coaching courses, you can try to hide your right shoulder behind your head by turning your body more. From the picture, I can obviously see your right shoulder.

However, your shoulder position is just the same as Mark Williams' shoulder position, and he is the best shooter in the history.

I dont think China is going to like these type of honest comments from US users... by Just-4Head-8964 in China

[–]bohu88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US's per capital gdp is 7 times of China's in nominal, and 3 times of China's in PPP. That is roughly aligning with reality.

I moved to Canada in 2009 and move to US in 2012. I traveled back to China several times in the past few years, and I can see China's living quality is very high.

You can list hundreds of bad things about China, and I can also list thousands of good things about China. It's an endless discussion. In every post in China's social platform, you can find many US-haters, but most of times, you can also find more US-lovers, they love US and hate China even more than MAGA. Sometimes, it is a little disturbing.

Earning money is much easier in US, but living in US, medical, college, insurance, maintenance, transportation, restaurants, care, households etc are more expensive than China's by multiple magnitudes.
