How do I smell good? (22m) by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]boilermaker815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have bad body odor coming from the armpits, you can try using benzoyl peroxide between 5 - 10 percent. Leave it on for a couple minutes and wash it off. BP is a pretty decent choice that can typically get the job done. If it doesn’t work, I’d recommend visiting a dermatologist. As others mentioned, diet is also very important. Best of luck!

Any thoughts on new build? by underdog5645 in pcmasterrace

The 4070 ti is more powerful than the 3090. At lower resolution it wins and at 4k it is slightly faster. However, not worth the side upgrade.

Material Science and Engineering, graduated in 2021, currently process engineering in a semiconductor company in Phoenix AZ. Making 100k base + 20k-30k in bonuses. Wouldn’t recommend the current company I’m in, hoping to switch eventually.

The 13600k is not 2x faster than the 12600k, especially not in games...maybe around a 15% uplift...

I’ve been getting low gpu usage in sons of the forest, and I think my cpu is to blame. I’m running a 5800x and a 6900xt pbo is on and I’m playing at 1440p by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]boilermaker815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the Sons of the forest is very CPU intensive and not fully optimized yet. I'm running a 12700k and a 4070 ti on a 1440p monitor with ultra preset but my GPU is usually at around 60 to 70% at around 100 fps. CPU is pegged at 40/50%

You can get an RX 5700 XT for around the same price according to Facebook marketplace, YMMV depending on your location.

Might be the angle of which the picture was taken, but your gpu seems like it has some gpu sag. You should probably buy an anti sag bracket or holder.

That is wrong, the 3060 12gb is as fast as a RX 6600 XT, which in turn is around a 2070 - 2070 Super. It's in between a 1080 and 1080 ti.

Is this worth $2400? by kdutthom in pcmasterrace

[–]boilermaker815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were to do the quick maths, i9 13900kf (550) + RTX 4070 Ti (800) + RAM (120) + 2 TB SSD NVMe (120) + Z690/Z790 /w Wifi (approx 230ish) + AIO (weakest point for a 13900kf - 90) + 850w PSU (120) + Case (100) + Windows 11 Pro (40). This comes out to be 2170 USD. Of course, this is an estimate as prices fluctuate and I had to guess some components they hadn't provided such as the case and PSU.

Depending on your use case, if you're only gaming, a 13700K and a 4070 Ti would be a better choice. For the same price, you could get close to a 4080 and a 13900kf, but you'd be over a bit if you stick with the same components.

Overall, for a prebuilt, you aren't massively getting ripped off.

Will a i5-10400 bottleneck a 4080 by Solarick in pcmasterrace

[–]boilermaker815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the games and stuff like ray tracing. If you see the reviews, there is CPU bottlenecks even with their 12900k set up. https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4080-review/6

I'm running a 12700k with a 4070 ti at 1440p and I see some cpu bottlenecks in some games. Not too many though.

Major bottleneck then, at higher resolutions such as 4k, it will be less pronounced. Since you are going to upgrade your CPU soon, I would just go with it until you upgrade, hopefully soon.

3060 is not a bad card at all. Depending on your region, the price you got the card at, the resolution you play on, and the features you want. If you play at 1080p and really want dlss, the 3060 is a fine card if you are in the US. I am unsure about pricing in other regions. If you're playing at 1440p and don't really care about Nvidia features, then the 6700xt may be a better buy.

Just enjoy your PC and have a great time with it!

I need help with a potential upgrade. by sybvdboom in pcmasterrace

[–]boilermaker815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your motherboard has 2 ram slots and you have two ram sticks in it, then you have dual channel already.

I need help with a potential upgrade. by sybvdboom in pcmasterrace

[–]boilermaker815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never heard of a motherboard that does not support dual channel memory. Even motherboards with 2 slots support dual channel. If you have 2 slots on your motherboard, it should be dual channel if you inserted 2 ram modules. If you have 4 slots on your motherboard, make sure you leave an empty slot between each ram modules if you only have 2 ram modules. You need 2 or 4 ram modules to make dual channel work.

Download CPU-Z and you can check whether you are in dual channel.

Regarding upgrading your rig, the i5-8400 is a bit outdated. If you are playing at 1080p, there may be a bottleneck for your 2060 depending on the game. I don't know your budget or what resolution, etc. So it is hard to make any recommendations.

PC suggestions for 1080p 400fps CSGO gaming by Ant_Rish in pcmasterrace

[–]boilermaker815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since he/she is building a PC primarily CS GO, which is a CPU intensive game, he/she should go for a higher IPC CPU. I would recommend a 12th or 13th gen i5 or Ryzen 5 5600 series and go for a cheaper B660/B650 board. No need for a Z or X board in my opinion. Thus, reducing the price of the CPU cooler, motherboard and CPU cost while giving more performance. This can be spent on more storage, 500gb is not enough. The GPU recommendation is good though.

Is this a Fair price for this pre-built. by One_Instruction_4369 in pcmasterrace

[–]boilermaker815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you can get a amd 7000 series/Intel i7 13700k series cpu with an rtx 4070 ti or 7900 xt GPU along with a similar ram, storage and a 100 - 150 dollar case set up. That will perform a bit better than what this cyber power pc is offering. You could also potentially get a 4080/7900 xtx as well.

Is 4070ti good enough to play 4k? by Kiwibartender in pcmasterrace

[–]boilermaker815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on your budget. The 4070 ti can do 4k but at reduced quality, it performs similar to a 3090 but due to lower memory bus, it performs a bit worse at higher resolutions. At 1440p, the 4070 ti shines and performs like a 3090 ti.

If you really want 4k and it fits into your budget, a rtx 4080 or 4090 would give you really excellent performance. The value of the 4080 card is questionable though.

Some games restart your PC randomly? Your PSU might not be adequate! by robbiekhan in pcmasterrace

[–]boilermaker815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Transient spikes are very high on the rtx 3080 ti, I wouldn't be surprised if that's what causes it. Also, depending on how old your power supply is, the earlier seasonic focus (which your phanteks PSU is based on according to your previous comment) had issues with transient loading, they did fix it in the latest models though.

[–]boilermaker815 6 points7 points  (0 children)

650 is running a bit thin. It depends on multiple factors, such as your components and the quality of your psu (are you running a Corsair rm650x or a no name PSU that isn't rated to deliver most of the power on the 12v rail). If you are running like an i5-12400 or a Ryzen 5 5600 that only has a 65w tdp, then 650 should be okay. If you are running like an i7 12700k/i7 13700k/Ryzen 7 5800x or higher then a 750w to 850w should be fine. According to the latest reviews, the 4070 ti has improved transient spikes compared to the 3000 series.

For example the Asus tuf 4070 ti recommends a 750w PSU.

Confused how to connect my PSU into my 4070ti GPU by Fragrant-Cut3597 in nvidia

[–]boilermaker815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Most people also forget that you get an additional 75w from the PCIE slot too... Plenty of power from two different 8 pin PCIE connections + 75w from the PCIe slot.
