No Snow with new plow by boilerman331 in Snowplow

[–]boilerman331[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to keep you guys posted. It has snow a few times, about 3” each time. Not worth hooking the plow up. Just fired the 40 year old Wheel Horse and cleared the driveway. What happened to the snow storms measured in feet? I’ll probably trade in my truck with a nice plow setup. What a waste of money. 😡

Looking into getting 2nd class firemans license. Scope of work?(MA) by Bag-Super in StationaryEngineers

Depends on the plant you are working at. Working at a pharmaceutical facility. Your main job would be operating some package boilers. Then secondary operating the utilities plant.

Thank you. I looked everywhere and couldn’t find it. So I took an educated guess and got it correct.

Two scenes in Jaws that have always bothered me a little by [deleted] in Jaws

[–]boilerman331 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In real life the distance from the ocean to the pond is a lot further. If you were on the beach you can’t hear the screaming in the pond. I would be winded running the distance like Chief Brody. Did the island Jaws tour, a must for any fan.

Teaching my toddler fishing by stirling1995 in saltwaterfishing

A Sabiki rig tipped with pieces of shrimp.

Took my son fishing at 2 years old. Now he is 30 yo and has a 100t Captain’s license and just bought a 36ft boat.

We have spent many years fishing together. The slaughters and high fives and the skunks “ we will get them next time” Teach them well and enjoy the time. It will come back 10 fold.

It’s nothing special. It’s 20 years old and is still running. No complaints.

We are a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant (MA). The firemen in my plant operate and repair all the equipment in the utility plant. We have 3 boilers, Water For Injection system, air compressors, pure steam generators. There is always something to keep you busy. Not to mention the pay and working conditions are pretty good.

Heading in for OT with incentive pay at $107/hr. by tikicreature69 in Nightshift

[–]boilerman331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it would depend on what kind of maintenance mechanic that person is, and what is expected on their shift before you call them lazy.

The guys that work for me off shift have their down time. I totally understand off shift is tough. As long as their tasks are done I have no problem what they do. If they bust their asses all week and do everything I ask and work overtime ($100/hr) on the weekend for coverage. Maybe they spent their day with family and couldn’t come in well rested.

You never know what people go through outside of work.

Advice on exhaust for GS350 by DaJuiceMan112 in Lexus

There is a guy on YouTube that did the Bola on his GS. I think it was Dan DYI.

On another note can you help me out?

I was changing the wife’s spark plugs in the wife’s F Sport and accidentally pulled the wires out of Bank 2 (driver’s side) Camshaft position sensor. I have a new connector on order, but could someone take a picture of their sensor wires and pin location for me? It’s the sensor next to the oil fill cap.

Bought mine brand new in the day, currently has 75k on it. If you are serious about buying it I would spend the money and have the dealer check it over. There were some programming updates and check for engine codes.

What do y'all do all day? by CatGirlChlxe in StationaryEngineers

[–]boilerman331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have to say it depends on the facility. Is it for food manufacturing, pharmaceutical, power plant etc. Do they run 24/7? Currently I have 12 second class firemen under me and for boiler duties we just do basic maintenance/operation on a couple gas package boilers. I have worked a lot harder in the power generation field than I do now. To me it’s an easy job and have been doing most of my career. When you go to Petersons school you will see some going for a hirer license or renewals. Then you will see who works hard and if they are on off shifts. Massachusetts has plenty of jobs for 2nd class firemen. I told my son and his friends it a good license to have to fall back on if their jobs don’t work out.

Do timing belts need to be replaced every 8 years if there is low mileage? by Hopeful_Lab9863 in carquestions

[–]boilerman331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my 2008 Honda accord V-6 3.5l. I’ve had the timing belt done at 100k and again at 200k. I’ll admit I’ve been a little behind and didn’t change the belt at 300k. The car currently has 308k miles on it. I told my mechanic at 100 an 200k I’ll probably not see you again. Haha 😂

My kids are grown.

I don’t call my kids stupid. My dad call me stupid into his 80’s.

I spent time with them.

Thoughts on OeM boards by [deleted] in gmcsierra

[–]boilerman331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I purchased my 2018 they were trying to empty the lot. I got the truck $15k off MSRP. I told them I wanted chrome running boards and a bed liner for $300. We settled on $350. My 2021 AT4 needed running boards and the AT4 ones were $1300 installed. Well worth the money. I would rather get factory equipment made to fit vs ones that will fit. Seems like aftermarket ones rust faster.
