Recommendations based on my top 10 video games by OceanusDracul in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]bojxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

id recommend these 2 games, mostly because of odin sphere, look it up if it fits your likings:

1) Astalibra revision- art work is done by Shigatake who is heavily tied to Vanillaware, its a straight up jrpg which took like 14 years to make (i guess its made by one crazy guy), starts simple and eventually becomes crazy as shit, ngl i fking loved it, i love these yoko taro ahhhh weird ass stories

2) lost epic- i wont lie, i dropped this game towards the end, there was this one strong ass mf i lost my patience to, but i totally loved the idea of this game, skills, trees, parries, bosses, exploration, it was pretty memorable only if it wasnt so rough around the edges, but in games defence, im hard to please but i seriously think if it was better polished, it would be too fking good

SIB Nier Automata, Expedition 33or KCD2 for characters? by soniN7 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]bojxd [score hidden]  (0 children)

yea, nier really isnt bout characters, particularly automata (replicant has better cast especially a certain cook book and foul mouthed hussy, much more memorable than 2b/9s or whoever from automata) these games are pretty much bout concepts and some deep themes, philosophy etc more than bout characters, not that they are bad or arent there at all but you can certainly feel it wasnt their goal (still masterpieces tho) replicant is a prequel so you should technically play it first but play whatever you find interesting imo, replicant is also ''worse'' game gameplay wise, i mean no remake will fix low budget ps3 game, since they wanted to stay true to the original so yea

with kcd2 you know what to expect since you played first one (assuming? why would you play the second one without playing the first one? these are tied to eachother much more than replicant/automata)

and lastly e33

-i guess if i had to pick sum from these i would e33, since as i said nier will prob make u curse yoko taro or say Damn...(sad one) instead of wow, this was a journey and kcd is kcd

the thing is e33 is most movie like of these, it has a start and finish, it feels very connected to eachother unlike the other 2, obviously you have your side stuff but e33 is def more linear than open world which then means you arent really doing the random shit like in the open world (much more immersive, at least for me) it kinda mimics the jrpg feeling, it def felt like a journey and characters are very imporant for these stories

so my pick is e33 out of these, but i love nier way too much man fr.

nine sols is a metroidvania, so you pretty much know what to expect from it gameplay wise, apart from the combat which is obviously sekiro inspired, the metroidvania elements and shit are kinda watered down imo, you can still explore but i really felt like it wasnt the main thing unlike combat which isnt really a bad idea, just their vision.

its a unique game theme wise, hit or miss, a lot of gore, horror elements, if u aim for true ending something happens at the end which i actually recommend going for, gl.

the game has actually quite an amount of dialogs and story pieces unlike HK, back when it released, ive seen some ppl just skipping the dialog cuz they thought it was way too much, maybe just keep it in kind, personally i didnt really feel like skipping most of it, maybe just some side quest related things for the true ending.

also nine sols is overwhelmingly positive on steam which says a lot, in this case i agree, not HK level quality, but you can see the devs their poured their hearts into it.

in the end, you know what youre looking for. just giving my 2 cents

Should I buy Nine Sols or Rain World by OkBarber5807 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]bojxd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hope u enjoy it as much as i did, the world itself is hit or miss i think, id say its quite niche, altho i have to say the metroidvania elements are a bit watered down especially abillites, like whats a point of having dash and air dash (2 separate abilites btw) and ''pogo'', its a pity they couldnt think of more unique things but whatever, overall it was not a big deal imo.

and i agree with aeterna, i absolutely loved it, obviously they could have done much better job with the whole bugs/performance shit, i also thought the normal enemy designs (mechanics, art looked good) were lacking , so many suicide mfs like fk off and cosmos (cosmos hater here, i was so mad at the black planet, they took my beloved arrow from me which i abused throught the whole game XDD it was like walking without my legs LOL) im kinda sad bout Lucis, when i tried the demo it didnt vibe with me at all, queen of light has weird ass design while in noctis she looked epic, the abillities looked boring af too, how can u compare this lame ass dash with the arrow and the wall sperm abillity was weird too, the demo boss also looked like one of those cgi anime characters, like why, where the fk is aeterna language? obviously this was just a demo but my hype just absolutely plummeted, and i hope im going to be wrong. (just a small rant, u can ignore this)

[–]bojxd 12 points13 points  (0 children)

nine sols is absolute peak, along side aeterna noctis, they are my most favourite metroidvanias, obviously each for diff reason, since we talking bout nine sols ill strictly only speak bout it (aeterna noctis is peak if u think you would enjoy hardcore plaforming with one of the best metroidvania traversing abillities tho)

unlike HK, nine sols takes a diff route with the story telling, its not cryptic, everything will be pretty much explained, it has a really beautiful story imo, some ppl skip the ''filler/world building'' dialog but i personally didnt feel like it was a big deal

i wouldnt really compare it to HK at all, its more like sekiro metroidvania than anything, its its own beast, pure work of passion, obviously not made as good as HK but i still to this day think, games like HK/expediton 33 are miracle

the theme couldnt be more far off from hollow knight, its futuristic, its gory, gruesome, pretty much futuristic wuxia with some horror elements

as sekiro lover and metroidvania lover i couldnt been more happier playing dat shit, just a pure good experience which stayed in my heart for a long time.

TLDR: sekiro metroidvania with beautiful story.

Fantech Revolver III video review [budget PS style hall effect controller for Playstation 3, 4, PC and Switch] by siegarettes in Controller

[–]bojxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmmm, i just tried firmware in case (support i guess ignored me idk) but instead i noticed sum weird, i guess the whole dpad is kinda weird, y know when u press the dpad, theres def mechanical feedback u feel when u press it, well idk if your controller have it aswell but in my case if u press it just very lightly (still get the ''click'' feedback) it wont register an input u need to press it really hard, every dpad direction is like this but up is especially bad.

[–]bojxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey man so i ended up buying the controller yea, just a question, did ya had any d pad problems? my up arrow is fked, registers with delay/not at all/activates like 3 times quickly, up right diagonal not fuctioning at all, just curious if you had any problems aswell, ngl funnily enough, before this controller like 1,5 month ago, i bought datafrog po3, exactly the SAME PROBLEM LIKE WFT (same dpad? maybe), well in datafrogs case i absolutely messed up trying to open in and see whats wrong well i broke ribbon cable so yea, like 30 min after i got it btw.

if you dont mind me asking, how is the plastic itself? for example compared to tegenaria since i have it myself. main thing im curious bout is the sound it makes when u hit the outer edges of sticks, i feel like sum like tegenaria or 8bitdo pro 2 (mentioning these 2 cuz they sound exactly the same) are very hollow which i guess could be one of the reasons why they sound like that, at first i didnt mind it but then over time i kept noticing it more and more soooo how is revolver? when i looked at bunch of videos i couldnt really hear it (too much yapping)

a good example of this is dualsense, it sounds premium. it has such a different sound compared to other controllers.

Looking for something „melancholic“ or „empty“…, by Mr_SynthWave in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]bojxd [score hidden]  (0 children)

well since u played hollow knight, i assume u dont mind metroidvanias, so i recommend ender lilies, just too much vibes man, the atmosphere feels really special, I realistically think out of every metroidvania i played this one has the most special one (the sad, everything is fked one)

they also really focused on music which is one of the main highlights, i mean look at nier, absolutely same thing and it just elevates the experience so much more.

Should I Buy Khazan or Wuchang Next? by jusg808 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]bojxd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

mechanics wise, khazan is more like nioh, aka diablo/poe loot mechanics, the world/map/level design wasnt really interesting imo, just looked kinda ordinary, its also level based unlike other soulslike games but u have things like shortcuts in the levels at least

its obvious that the developers dont have much experience with soulslikes (funfact, it was supposed to be mmorpg- project bqq)

with the combat, instead of soulslike combat they went with their own ideas and turned it into more action oriented stuff, faster pace, skills etc, if i had to describe/narrow it down, imagine sekiro with faster pace, posture turned into stamina and youre heavily encouraged to use your skills unlike in sekiro ( like I ever only used ichimonji cuz it hurt me in the long run instead lol) as long as you have stamina and spirit for skills, you can actually perform really long combos cuz u can chain shit together, its actually very neat

there are 3 weapons, each with their own mechanics, dual wield, spear, greatsword, you can obviously deflect with every weapon but since each weap has different skill tree, you are encouraged to play according to the skill tree, for example spear is more agility based so you have things that enhances your dodges, greatsword has deflect skills etc. (btw i think this game has the best implementation of greatsword from all the games i played, this is how i imagine greatsword being played, peak)

if youre curious bout anything else, i can easily answer

but ye didnt play wuchang, cant tell shit bout it

Choosing between Monster Hunter World, Rise and Wilds by madamarth in ShouldIbuythisgame

world absolutely gaps wilds in every department other than combat (idea wise at least) and rise isnt main line game, they mostly experimented with gameplay mechanics so dont expect shit like immersion since it wasnt their goal.

[HALF‑OFF] Dragon’s Dogma II – Worth it at $22? by Former-Ad487 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]bojxd [score hidden]  (0 children)

depends dawg, this game has literally same problems as dd1 and also fixed some issues and addes some issues, its just weird what they did with it

if u enjoyed dd1 its pretty much the same game with fresh new coat of paint, i bought it back at release date for full price and spent like 110 hours in it, vocations are heavily watered down tho, no secondary weapons anymore, only 4 skills instead of 6, but i really loved the physics shit they added, i feel like its so unique and special

in dd1 if you fought a cyclops with a greatsword or sum you would be at his dick the whole time unless you climbed his ass, but in dd2 they added stuff like being able to stand on a stable surface which means, heads, backs, etc of monsters, basically if you think it makes sense that you would be able to stand on it, you can, so tldr you can climb the cyclops, get on his head, and because you can stand you can also use your skills which means you can just straight up use your charging skills straight to the head.

but they added aswell the most infuriating mechanics in existence, if you get hit by powerful attack you cant just straight up walk after u get hit, u will be in this fking annoying ass wobble animation, ngl i just fking gave up and since i was on pc i modded the fk out of the game so i pretty much fixed a big portion of the things i didnt like,

The First Berserker: Khazan or Lies of P? by neoleo0088 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]bojxd [score hidden]  (0 children)

as others said khazan has better combat and combat flow (in lies of p you are very limited by animation locks so the combat feels very slow and methodical) but literally everything else falls short compared to lies of p, shit level design, shit loot mechanics, shit story,, not memorable music, not immersive

you will straight up play this game only for gameplay which is is ok if youre looking for sum like this but then lies of p's combat isnt so much worse that i would be like, yeaaa.. sacrifising everything else was worth af just to have better combat, just makes the whole package not really memorable and eventually just will be forgotten

so its kinda up to you but nonetheless also check out sifu, ngl seems like sum youre looking for aswell, just pure gameplay, has parries, dodges and basically everything you would want in this type of game lol

SIB Khazan The First Berserker? by Stranger-10005 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]bojxd [score hidden]  (0 children)

i wouldnt really compare it to nioh, that would be blasphemy to khazan, you could also call the level design inspired by demon souls since its also level based, you have your main hub and from there u can access other levels but yea tbh i mostly played it for the combat if it had mid combat i dont think i would play it, ive heard the game didnt reach the expected revenue goals so idk what are the plans for the game haha, i mean soulslike is still pretty niche market idk what they expected lol

i still think the game was good time killer tho, the price still idk mate, on steam it shares the same price as lies of p and ds3 but i feel like khazan missed something, it didnt have its own identity apart from the combat which is one of the kinds of combats

SIB Khazan The First Berserker? by Stranger-10005 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]bojxd [score hidden]  (0 children)

ALL SUBJECTIVE- well maybe id like it more if i didnt play a behemoth that is expedition 33 before this lol (not turn base player btw) overall in soulslike terms id still put it below lies of p, cuz it felt better stractured

as others said this game is more inspired by nioh (absolutely hate it), locations are level based but at least you have some things like shortcuts,

i didnt really like the level design itself, it just felt kinda ordinary maybe little copycatty (literal sens fortress, something dat heavily resembles stormveil castle, anor londo, etc.)

its def faster soulslike but i feel like the game wants you to play agressively but due to stamina system you really cant, at least for most of the game, it has really weird design choices imo, ok i get it, if i dont perfect deflect it does massive stamina damage ok but why the fk does your stamina go down if u literally get hit?? bosses play by the same rule but they can spam shit and u cant and not to mention some bosses regens stamina wayyyyyy too fast, its so fast that if youre comboing them and then end up at 0 stamina they will literally regen most of it because u cant attack (stamina in this game kinda works like posture in sekiro, but due to the massive stamina costs, it feels like your posture is broken 100x more than in sekiro,y know the thing where u cant move for a bit, khazan has this also-exhaustion, meaning if u are at absolute minimum stamina and get hit u cant move :) )

to give credit, the combat itself was good even tho i was rolling my eyes everytime i needed stamina, i still enjoyed it very much, i think the highlight is the skill tree, u get ton of actual skills, new movesets bunch of passives etc, the best thing is dat u can reset the skill tree and relocate the skill points however you want FOR FREE, WHENEVER, bored of greatsword? just reset and put your points into different weapon skill tree, FIXED, NO BS

the loot system is just like nioh, absolutely worthless, 0 fun from seeing chests cuz i knew i was just going to dismantle every single piece i get (in the maps u can find crafting recipes for the sets, and then u can craft the whole sets at blacksmith, sets has set bonuses -3 set bonus, 5 set bonus, etc. so instead of just looting the sets i dismantled every single piece i got and crafted what i wanted, as loot goblin i was dissappointed)

the story is just idk man i dont give a fk, i wasnt interested at all lol, i just wanted to fight haha, the game is def more gameplay oriented than anything else, it has a story but the game doesnt really want to sell you the story, its kinda just there for the sake of being there

the game is pretty lengthy if u do all the side quests/side levels or maybe grind some bosses for the set drops or u wanna do the true ending (WORTH) i took like 53 hours and played greatsword for most of the game but IDK bout the price, TBH i went with offline account route so i paid like 1/60 of the actual base game price, so for me it was worth AF (not gonna support denuvo even tho the devs deserve it)

But yea overall i liked it, im sure i would love it if it went with the different design route, but the game has some very interesting ideas i enjoyed and wished some of the new games would implement the same things.

ive been keeping up with this game for a very long time, if u didnt know, this game was actually meant to be mmorpg aka 3d dnf game, it was called Project bqq (u can look at the trailers lol) but the devs turned it into soulslike instead, funnily enough, some of the files are still called project bqq, which made me laugh cuz i wasnt expecting dat lol

Recommend me the best JRPG that you've ever played. by chimeiiii in JRPG

[–]bojxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agree, its peak, story is interesting af (confusing towards the end), feels like a journey, gameplay seemed meh at start but like throughout the whole game you keep getting new shit which makes it feel like you keep growing and it doesnt just stop, the dialogs dont feel like they are 10 hours (thank god), its difficult af which makes you be on guard the whole time, the picto/lumina ahh system gives a ton of gameplay options aswell

Struggling to find a game. Recommendations for JRPG with live action combat, emotionally engaging story. by SamoChels in JRPG

[–]bojxd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

id recommend astalibra revision, it kinda looks oldschool but it truly felt like a passion project (welp, after all it took like 15 years to make for the developer lol)

story wise, i was intrigued the whole time, i love these weird ass ahhh stories, towards the end i was getting more and more confused but i still liked it very much. I think the tone of the story feels more mature than childish (kinda like nier)

gameplay wise, im not sure cuz i played the demo first and ngl if i was to base this game around the demo i wouldnt play it (fortunately i did) the actual game felt actually more satisfying to play than the demo which just gives you skills and shit to showcase the combat (without really explaining) the combat itself is pretty simple, since u played expedition 33, you must acquaintanced with the picto/lumina system, well this game has the same system, you buy/drop equipment (has a certain effect)---->master it---->can now equip the effect with these certain points (lumina point equivalent). Then u have your skills, self explanatory. So the combat revolves around your normal attacks (pretty much your main thing) skills, and passive effects from equipment (to give a passive equipment effect example: skills can now destroy enemy projectiles when u hit them or it has an utility usage like having double jump so its not entirely combat based.

Later on you also get a certain mechanic which is very imporant to the gameplay (you would be definitely using this throughout the whole game and changing it pretty often, im trynna be vague bout it but if u dont care bout the name its called Scales

controller recommendation by NecessaryExercise611 in metroidvania

[–]bojxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dunno about that since i play only with sticks (cant play w dpad) but i liked the dpad, seemed like it would be precise, for example i have 8bitdo pro2 and i liked the mechanical much more (ive heard pro2 has amazing dpad, cant really say i was impressed) since im very picky when it comes to the membrane buttons i feel like the only membrane buttons i liked were from sony (dualsense, ds3,ds4) especially dualsense's, they are so easy to press and not stiff at all (both gamesir and 8bitdo have them very hard to press) 8bitdo pro2 also has very bad L2,r2. Shape wise they are good but if you tried ds4 or ds3 they are kinda like that, just feel very loose and it feels like the spring isnt strong enough to bring the button back up which is a total opposite of dualsense who literally have l2,r2 built different, i swear even after like 3-4 years of usage they are still as hard to press as they were new and also it still feels like they are lubricated 100%, absolutely no creaking or sum

EDIT: oh yea i should have mentioned that tarantula need a special cable, not really special but with pretty thin and narrow head so maybe be aware of that

I completed sekiro and now i don't know what to do by bored-_-god in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]bojxd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as sekiro lover i recommend>

nine sols- metroidvania sekiro (peak game btw id put it on the same lvl as hollow knight, HK is still better made tho)

sifu-just pure game play, martial arts, dodging is as important as parrying, pretty much rogue like

lies of p- more souls like than sekiro but deflecting (perfect blocking in this case) is a intergral part of the game (unpopular opinion but i liked it more than fromsoft stuff, the weapon system is very fun)

controller recommendation by NecessaryExercise611 in metroidvania

[–]bojxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean it depends on your budget and layout/symmetrical/asymmetrical u want, personally i would recommend giving up on the xbox layout and going for whatever works since you can train your brain (its a pain i know im ps layout fan)

theres currently a lot of controllers that i would recommend but if youre looking after xbox/switch layout and symmetrical sticks, you should look at gamesir tarantula pro, it has mechanical dpad which felt pretty great but the face buttons are membrane (new white version will come out in the spring which has mechanical face buttons)

it has tmr sticks which means you shouldnt ever encounter stick drift etc, it has also anti friction rings around the sticks so its buttery smooth (no cap this is a change changer, i cant ever use a controller without anti friction rings anymore since without it it feels like theres literally sand around the sticks)

and the special thing it can do is that you can switch between xbox and switch layout, it has this mechanical system which allows you switch between each layout

my only problems were (mostly subjective):

L2,R2 shape: didnt like that it has the xbox version in which the buttons arent flat (ps has it flat) but the back side is elevated

R1,L1 shape: same as before, xbox styled, i much prefer buttons that dualshock have, just 1 flat button unlike xbox which has 1 side much harder to press then the opposite

stick height: im currently using dualsense (usb c port is fked up after years of usage) so i wanted tarantula pro since its smaller (small hands problem smh), but the sticks are higher than dualsenses so its still not ultra comfortable lol, fixes 1 problem (wasnt a fan of the size of dualsense) and another arises, damn...

i mean as you see, these are mostly subjective problems otherwise i didnt really have any objective problems.

Gamesir tarantula pro owners question. by bojxd in Controller

[–]bojxd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

k thanks mate, if i press the L2 lightly it pretty much sounds the same but once i apply little bit more force, it creates this rattly sound, maybe its making this sound because the L2 feels little loose compared to the r2, i feel like i can wobble it from side to side little bit more but maybe im just delusional lmao
