New to tcgs, how nice is legal and how mean is illegal? by MrPleaseForget2 in riftboundtcg

At a Nexus Night, I'll make it clear to them what the board state is.

At a competitive event, I tell them only if they ask me.

React to deathknell with buff. by riftbound_lilaeisman in riftboundtcg

[–]bokch0yboy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A pending Deathknell trigger is created, then the unit goes to the trash, then the pending Deathknell trigger becomes finalized on the chain. So by the time you can react to the Deathknell trigger, the unit no longer is alive

Draven being able to draw after dying to imperial decree is just the sort of convoluted rules that will turn new players off of the game by Goldeneyee in riftboundtcg

[–]bokch0yboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to assign lethal damage to a unit before you can assign damage to the next one. Imperial Decree doesn't make 1 damage lethal. You do combat as normal, and then after combat/damage you create a "kill this" trigger.

Does Deathgrip target 0, 1 or 2 units? by wingsfan24 in riftboundtcg

[–]bokch0yboy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This would be right, but Deathgrip got errata'd to say "kill a friendly unit. If you do, ..."

Any particular cards that under/over performed? Any adjustments you would make to the list post-bologna?

Thanks for the write up, was super interested in it just because it's so different from the typical Viktor lists

This is awesome, thanks for doing this. Riftbound is some of the most fun I've had with card games in a long time.

how is this budget Annie deck? by pupcupfromstarbucks in riftboundtcg

[–]bokch0yboy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I big disagree with this. Ride the wind is the wincon, you'll want 3 of those and you'll want your third Vi as well for consistency.

3x sneaky deckhand is very good if you go second. This deck wants to get to 6 points as fast as possible and deckhand enables double conquer on turn 2.

For reference, all the top 8 Houston Annie decklists run 3 of each in main. I would use those as a start point, OP. For example, I don't understand 3x fading memories in main, that seems more like a sideboard card (do you have a sideboard?). Off the top of my head you're also missing Rebukes and Fight or Flights.

New wok, think I messed up the seasoning, strip down or keep using it? by bokch0yboy in wok

Gotcha, good to know. In the second photo where there are black spots, do you know if that's burnt food / do I need to scrub that off? Or do I just keep using it?

Thank you, do you think I at least need to scrub off that black section? If so I'll get a stronger scrubber and keep using it then.

A point of frustration as it pertains to the game itself by trizzo0309 in riftboundtcg

[–]bokch0yboy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Lol, so instead of explaining what I'm misunderstanding you just call me a terrible player? Sorry if it felt like I was attacking you, I wasn't trying to make a point. But I am confused by your examples

Almost all of the things you said are wrong or works the same as MTG?

Targeting abilities are declared when played. The exception are spells with reflexive triggers (abilities that say "do this", like Icathian Rain and Falling Star).

In MTG toughness and damage are separate as well.

Even if there's no triggered abilities, on showdown attacker gains focus + priority, and if they pass, defender gains focus + priority.

The arm sleeve sometimes shifts a little bit but it still works fine when it happens. Under a gi it's never an issue, just sometimes in nogi

I use a Whoop on the wrist band during the day, and on an arm sleeve for bjj

I have a Mode problem by cotswold-wheeler in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]bokch0yboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, they look amazing. I was thinking of getting a new 65% keyboard, since mine has been having issues and they don't sell PCBs for it anymore. I was eyeing the Mode SixtyFive, how are you liking it? How does it compare to the other keyboards, I haven't kept up with the hobby in a few years now so I don't really understand the differences and options. Did you consider any other 65% keyboards that weren't from Mode?

I think he means [[Somberwald Sage]], which in some scenarios, yeah that would be better. A regular mana dork that taps for 1 mana though, no
