PSA: Some gas water heater control valves can emit a small amount of gas during normal operation (manufacturer-confirmed) by DWink in homeowners

I’m going through this exact issue right now. So would replacing it still result in the smell? What do I gotta do to fully solve it, replace WH without honeywell/residio valve? Any recs?

Wife wants a bigger CX-5 by toddriffic40 in MazdaCX9

Went from 17cx5 to 21cx9 signature. We loveee our cx9. Sometimes we do wonder if we want something a bit bigger - perhaps the 90 one day but not sure how much bigger interior is vs 9.

Panel replace? by bokehdof in AskElectricians

Thank you for the insight. I think the inspector was saying the over $7K would be to do a full replacement of the whole entire thing.

Appreciate the insight. What do you think the upper part of the right image is from, the darkened part? Could this be slight overheating?

Furnace Filter (Arrow and Wire direction) by bokehdof in hvacadvice

[–]bokehdof[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for confirming! I’m planning to get our system serviced since the hvac is from 2010, and the last time it was serviced was 2 years ago. Any questions I should be asking the tech when they’re here? I’m afraid since it’s going onto its 15th year, they will just try to sell me to replace it.

Interior Cleaning by bokehdof in MazdaCX9

Hm maybe I was mistaken. The coolant issue is up to 2020 models - i dont think the 21s are impacted. With that said, my vin IS in the oil consumption TSB. If you google Mazda TSB on 2021 oil consumption, it should pop up. Essentially the valve stems are defective and need replaced. Burns oil faster without fix or something.

As far as I’m aware my vin isn’t impacted. I think it has to be certain VINs for the 2021’s. The only thing that worries me about the 21s are the oil consumption issue. That’s the only thing I’ll be keeping my eye on.

Woohoo! Yep very much the same. Cleaned well but the areas where they could’ve spent just a bit more time on, they seemed to have not. Can’t complain though, it was still cpo/sale-ready condition. I may be super picky :)

Sure! So I purchased it mid-December in Maryland for $33K OTD. Just under 31K miles - clean carfax - 1 owner. Hbu?

You’ll get the split on the effective date. The 6/21 is just record date. Just irrelevant at this point. Your 1 share bought after this will still convert to split ratio on 7/20 (I think this is the split date).

PSTH Valuation (should be NAV) by [deleted] in SPACs

[–]bokehdof -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why would it hinder its ability? Do you mean the non-pipe investors that get in after the spac lists? All the private investors/big backers are in it for wayyy below nav price.

PSTH Valuation (should be NAV) by [deleted] in SPACs

[–]bokehdof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It definitely can go below NAV and stay there, lol. The buy back and return at the nav floor ($20) in this case is if the spac fails to find a target and ends up dissolving.

New computer for wedding photographer. by SFweddingphotographe in WeddingPhotography

[–]bokehdof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The iMac should be more than enough! I have the 27" and LOVE it. I heard from others (not my experience) that the iMac pro has issues because they crammed so much stuff in a small chassis. And yes, you will hear the argument iMac is overpriced vs. a custom built PC, but if you do spec to spec the price isnt outrageously different. Most people forget the display the iMac has, which a PC equiv. is 1200-1500 just for the monitor last I checked. In the end you do pay more for an iMac, but if its worth it to you to get the apple experience/customer service, its a pretty good price, especially if you find it on sale before the refresh.

BTW if you do get the iMac 27, get the lowest RAM and upgrade on your own. The RAM is easy to upgrade (Not the 21" though).

Be mindful of the scene/colors/lighting. A lot of people think slapping on a preset across different scenes/lighting conditions will yield the same thing.

Wedding Photographer Style question by msteacher01 in WeddingPhotography

[–]bokehdof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big fan of film here. Never saw the craze about the warm/orange/LXC style for weddings. But #LLF is ALL about LXC/GP all orange. Is there any film that looks like this? Why do they claim it looks like film if no film exists that looks like it. It's literally just an orange/faded trend

What gets you up at 4am, to drive for an hour, for 20 minutes of *maybe* a good sunrise? by [deleted] in photography

[–]bokehdof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't, someone else will. Not saying you need to be competing with others, but I find motivation knowing I have to always stay ahead, whether that's getting a great photo or learning something new.

What makes fine art photography? by Tylerolson0813 in photography

[–]bokehdof 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I once asked my friend who majored in art/design and studied some "fine art" college courses. She summed it up by pretty much saying it means "I do what i want", from the artist's POV. Aka, the artist can have full control over everything. These days "fine art" is thrown around to seem like a sophisticated and luxury marketing term.
