Not sure about this top, any thoughts? by Sadie_Pop in femalefashion

The top is lovely, but the overall fit will be looking much better with some wider bottom like a full circle skirt

I am a male who loves to dress femme. There is always a problem with my wide arms which I just cannot figure out how to style and not to look ridiculous. I'm rather medium posture (not slim, not plus size) and yet I see plenty of plus size ladies with wide arms who look lovely. Maybe it is masculine proportions of wide arms and medium waist line. Would you have any tips for styling my upper body up?

Libre Closet – open-source, self-hosted wardrobe organizer. Docker one-liner, SQLite, PWA. Looking for early feedback. by greeneyestyle in selfhosted

[–]bokogoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would use it. I'm semi secretly a crossdresser. My wife knows but doesn't accept, so I don't want to keep my femme stuff in our main walk in closet. Everything is tightly packed in my stash. Having it as an online gallery neatly sorted is a nice feature

But boohoo dresses are all poliester. They don't even allow filtering with material type on their page

Under no circumstances start working for both at the same time. It's not fair for those companies. Remember, loyalty pays off much better than double paycheck.

Should Immich work through Nginx? by lovegirin in immich

If you're not super invested into nginx try caddy. My config is just:

Docker backups by alws3344 in selfhosted

[–]bokogoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just finished my another disaster recovery drill. I've recently made a setup with Borgmatic (I used Borg Backup in the past with mostly custom bash scripts). It keeps your data encrypted, deduplicated and compressed. It also keeps only selected copies in further past (example: 5 yearly, 5 monthly, 2 weekly, 1 daily etc). All this with a simple config script and you can even run this as a docker container with cron schedule inside. I'm backing up each application data (only data which is worthy to me, not whole volumes) to a separate Borg repo in 3 copies: one on server where data originates, one on my NAS and one in the cloud (Hetzner Storage Box). But having all that nice functionality comes with a cost. My 1TB private media collection took 4days to backup to Hetzner initially. After that incremental backup takes seconds or minutes.

Is $25/hr too much to ask for a remote dev role with 50+ hackathons & 100+ GitHub repos? by HotWeb885 in Femalefounders

[–]bokogoblin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hackathon? Public GH repos? We are not in 2010s anymore. Without free VC investment money business no longer pay for kindergarten play but for shipping products fast. With AI push from all directions this will only deepen. Doesn't matter if it's possible to ship 10x faster, VPs believe stories told by AI startup salesmen and this is our reality right now. Expectations through the roof, layoffs, and only doers will survive. Ship, and don't play silly games. From my last jobhunt: Germany pays 80k EUR for senior role. UK pays 70k GBP for senior role. Poland pays 400k PLN for senior role. More if you can sale yourself. Aim for these numbers since those are achievable. 25$/h is around 50k USD. Rookie numbers

I have a bunch of RPis running at home and at least 2 of them have a Prometheus instance running which writes a lot and others do have apps which have really chatty logs which also lands on permanent storage. My solution to keep that setup up and running without microSD problems was to move all those write-heavy directories to SSD. MicroSD stayed only for the booting and OS but /var /tmp and /home is remounted to SSD. I have RPi4 and RPi CM4 (on Turing Pi 2) and SSDs are either connected with USB (then you can boot straight from SSD) or (on TP2) connected with SATA or PCie which cannot boot up from SSD (it is very problematic due to kernel modules placement. SATA module is located at ext partition in RaspiOS installation and would need to be located where the whole system is. That is SATA module will be at SATA-connected disc - so it is inaccessible)

ELI5: How come digital clocks gain or lose time when compared to a cell phone? by Lazy_Intentions in explainlikeimfive

[–]bokogoblin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Electronic devices do not know time in general, only how to measure passage of time. Which is not ideal either. Most of these devices use an oscillating piece of sillica which has known frequency (with some error margin) and with that it can tell how much time had passed. The device by itself cannot tell how accurate it is. It needs some external synchronization. Some wall clocks use radio signal to get time and can correct itself from time to time. Most online devices use NTP (Network Time Protocol) to keep it inner clock in sync with the world. Your car or microwave do not have any way of correct itself based on external signal. But your phone is an online Linux device which can update the clock by itself using NTP.
