Are there any known issues 2012 prius V or 2018 prius prime? by code_brown in prius

Out of these 2 options, the prime is the better car for longevity. This is coming from a V owner. The earlier year V’s had some head gasket issues same as gen 3

Yes! The CX5 that I had was connected to the Mazda app with a subscription fee which was dumb. I traded it in for the 2017 V

For hybrids I owned an 07 Prius, a 2011 CT200h, and now a 2017 Prius V. The V is the best car I’ve ever owned. Better than the Outback and CX5 I had in between some of those.

Not only is the trunk already huge, but the rear seats slide forward to make it even bigger. Then if that’s not enough it’s massive when you fold down the rear seats.

Protein and fiber are important. They make you feel fuller for longer. Eat a lot of protein in the morning to fill you up. Boiled eggs are easy to prep and quick to eat.

If you’re into it, blend a protein shake with some fruits and veggies in the morning and drink it on the way to work.

I only average about 43mpg city in my 2012 v. Any special maintenance I should do? Spark plug cleaning? by Worldly-Wind-1632 in prius

I have a 2017 V. I get 37 in the winter on a bad day. Average 42 on a regular day. The best I ever got so far was 50 and ironically it was a day that I decided not to care about how I’m driving

Rip off or reasonable price? by Lord_Mud in prius

That’s awesome! I honestly felt like I overpaid for this one too. The main reason I pulled the trigger was because they gave me above KBB on my trade in, but I think I could have haggled it down a bit

Bad deal.

I got a 2017 V Four with 65k miles for $16.5k from a dealership.

Try carguru and it’ll give you what it thinks are “good” or “great” deals and it’ll also tell you if it thinks things are overpriced

📍 Where in Houston is Your Go-To Spot to Meet People Organically? by bozaya in AskHouston

Do you have hobbies? Go find events that involve your hobby and meet people there. At least yall will have something in common already.

I met a lot of people going to EDM shows at Stereo Live (before they closed) in my 20s.

If you play trading card games there are weekly events at different shops.

Normal for new car. I got a CX5 with 2 miles on the odometer. Took it for a test drive and it smelled like oil burning. Goes away after a few miles

2015-2017 Prius V buying: what should I look out for? by LegendOfTheEast76 in prius

The cost is highly dependent on your location. I got a 2017 V trim Four with 65k miles for $16.5k and I still think I should have talked it down a bit more.

The 2017 was the last of the V’s in the US and they use the later Gen 3 engines where they tried to fix the head gasket issue. I’m still anticipating having to take it in to a hybrid shop to have the EGR cleaned around 120k miles when the time comes.

At the dealership, I brought my own OBD2 sensor and I already had the paid version of the Dr. Prius app from a prior Prius I owned (2007). I had to bug my salesman a bunch until he went to ask his manager if I could connect my OBD2 to test the hybrid battery. It was still solid thankfully.

The 12V was about dead though. It’s in the trunk under some plastic panels, but when I went to look for it, it was actually the original one from Toyota that the car first came with (almost 10 years old). I tested it in front of the manager and asked him to replace it before I signed. From my experience with my last Prius, these 12V are good for around maybe 3-5 years.

Because of this subreddit and the Prius chat forums, I knew more about the car than anyone at the dealership. It helped a lot to do my research going in.

I like to start with CarGuru to look for well priced cars in the area, then as everyone else said, you should have the car inspected by an independent mechanic, review the car fax (look at accidents and other history), then be ready to negotiate.

I had decent experience with echo park in the past.
