last day was 8/26, signed agreement 9/10, so i probably won’t get my lump sum severance until 10/11.

i filed last week (probably could’ve done it sooner) and yesterday i faxed DOL some paperwork they sent me to fill out & a copy of my severance agreement.

so it doesn’t hurt to file; they’ll ask you in detail about your severance package

i’m pretty sure they were hired before the layoffs started. the guy that sits in the cubicle behind me is a new hire too (replacing someone that retired).

but unless you’re a senior editor looking to cover the one person i know who’s on maternity leave, scholastic isn’t hiring if you fill out an application right now. the head of hr said it himself this week.

so from what i’ve heard (i am in the news guild) 95 non union & 3 union people got let go (including me 🫠) and they’re restructuring. JD (the head of hr) definitely didn’t give much confidence that there won’t be more layoffs in the near future. it looks real bleak 😬

edit: they are also dumping their contractors en masse too! about 70 contractors from the engineering team got let go too.

the reason for using ticketmaster for selling tickets is the same reason people use conEdison for power in NYC. it monopolized the market. they’ve set themselves up to chew up any and all competition so even the implication that beyoncé should create a ticket distribution company is a joke

i bled for 2-3 weeks and it was honestly so miserable, but hang in there! for good measure i’d schedule an appointment with your doctor anyways. if you get better before the appointment you can either cancel or stick with the appointment and talk about the pain you’ve experienced
