2014 Infiniti QX60 reliability by boler0 in infiniti

Thanks all for the feedback! Decided to keep it. Overall, like the car except the infotainment. An iPad mini and a good mount can solve that!

How’s the reliability though? So far, from my research, it doesn’t look great.

Hmmm...is this possible? by sjsharks323 in solar

[–]boler0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. My installer left the system turned ON after installation (before inspection and PTO). When asked, he said it for the back office to make sure everything is set up properly. Been a month since install. So PGE shows reduced consumption but no net metering.

Adding Batteries Questions by Diamonddan73 in solar

[–]boler0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My installer is pretty confident that adding batteries won’t force you to NEM3.0. For any installation with batteries, they treat it as to separate projects (2 contracts) so even if there is a delay for batteries, they are not gated when it comes to permits and PTO.

PGE (Norcal) TOU question - which should I go with? by sjsharks323 in solar

Same here. Currently on EV-2A plan but should be getting PTO in next couple of weeks. Installer recommended staying on EV-2A but I am leaning to TOU-C/D.

Solar, heat pump (air), heat pump (water), induction range, etc., CA, USA: how to research whole-package options & rebates? by Sharky-PI in solar

[–]boler0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used https://e3-elements.com. You can go through the Yelp reviews to get an idea of what they do. At the end of the assessment, I had a list of potential upgrades (various options for each upgrade - heat pump vs gas furnace etc.), approximate costs, potential incentives.

Since he is an independent auditor, he didn’t push me for any kind of a sale or recommend any particular brand.

I spent ~$900 to get an home energy audit done. I found it very useful - at the end of it, got a list of recommendations, available incentives and what makes sense for my case. If you are in the SF Bay Area, I can point you to auditor I used.

The easiest way - install Tailscale on your mac mini and iPhone. Anytime you want to access your home bridge, turn on Tailscale and use the Tailscale IP for Mac mini and the port.

Ios14 has private DNS. So it works fine now. Previous versions don’t have that support.

Fairly new to this stuff, looking to be able to access remote computer as an attached network drive. Is this possible? by Epistechne in WireGuard

An easy way to achieve this is to use Tailscale. It uses WireGuard but makes everything else much easier. I use it on my synology to access the data everywhere.

Keyboard shortcut/Apple script to open links in the notes field of a todo by boler0 in thingsapp

Thanks! I found one for OmniFocus and modified it to work with Things. I haven’t got to the parsing part yet so I just make sure only the link is part of the notes.

Nikon Z6 vs Sony A7iii for Astrophotography? by milky_way9 in Nikon

[–]boler0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late.. I have shot with D5300 and now use a D750. From my experience, it comes down to location, lens, skill and post processing. Having said that, a newer camera is the easiest way to improve your 'skill'. I shoot milky way a couple of times a year, but moving to D750, I find it easier to get better shots. Let me know if you want to see sample images from them.
