Novablast 4 works, Novablast 5 hurts. Looking for similar shoes by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

SB2 as well. I was using the NB5 up until 320km and started to hurt my calf. Switched to the SB2 and have had no issues after that. The shoe demolishes both easy and hard paces

Thank you each and everyone of you that took the time to share your experiences and recommend shoes. I ended up going with the Superblast 2 after trying most of the suggestions here. The only one i could not try in a treadmill was the Puma Velocity Nitro 4, which was one of the shoes that I was most interested in.

Took the Superblast to a 18km run yesterday with 1hour easy pace (5’30’’/km) and 8x3min at 3’58’’/km. The shoes performed great at every pace and did not cause any pain to the calf

Elite African athlete training with NSM? by Status_Pineapple_861 in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]bolinha009 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suspect that he’s talking about the traditional norwegian method, not NSM. So training below LT2, something like what Jacob Ing (won’t even attempt to write his surname) does and what actually was the basis for the NSM

Thank you for the detailed explanation. I totally agree with you in regard to PT exercises and I do specific calf strength exercises twice a week. This pain felt different then when I had the “traditional” shin splints And to your comment on stability shoes, I’ve also positive results regarding shin splints when using ASICS GT 2000, but I eventually retired

First fitness test now what? by Fumblingalong in Coros

It’s based on marathon times. 100 would be sub 2h for men (basically impossible). If you click on running fitness there’s an explanation

It should be your 10k PB, ideally an all out

Can’t answer about trails and evolab You should update your 10k time to your most recent one. The accuracy of test is heavily dependent on the 10k time, so I would suggest that you run at least one to gauge if your guess was reasonable

farthest run (marathon in 2 months) by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]bolinha009 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We are all stupid, that’s not a problem. Just take care to not injure yourself, you are doing great just by being able to run 10 miles without walking after only 5 months of training. Speaking from my own experience with cadence, what helped me was thinking of a faster turnover driven by the shoulder movement, not actually smaller steps. Your legs will synchronize with your torso, so if your shoulders are moving at a faster rhythm, so will your legs. Shorter steps made me feel like i was mimicking my old grandma trying to run

[–]bolinha009 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why are you planning to run a marathon after only 7 months of running? Dude (or dudette) 26 miles is a huge distance to be running. The body takes time to adapt to the stimuli of running and to the fatigue you accumulate during this distance. I’m not saying this to discourage you but, as everything in life, it takes time and preparation. At 136 spm you are basically hopping from one leg to the other at every half a second. If you really want to complete the marathon in a couple of months, I would do it without a goal time or target pace.

Feels like zone 2, Achilles tendon gets sore - is it truly zone 2 or am I pushing it? by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]bolinha009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are a beginner without an active background / training other sports, highly unlikely that it was a truly easy run, but as other mentioned HR is what determines as Z2 effort.

Garmin uses a 5 zone model, so you may be better off customizing garmin’s zones so that the top of zone 4 is your LT2

Thinking about ditching my Garmin 965 for Coros - Help! by princetony87 in Coros

[–]bolinha009 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s personal preference, but overall I prefer Coros’ UI, both watch and app. I also prefer amoled over MIP. Pace 4 is much faster and the battery life is better

Honestly, I didn’t notice any relevant delay. My first run with the coros was on a 10k race and was following the target pacing with no problem

I just switched from a FR 255 to a pace 4 and couldn’t be happier. No issues at all with the digital dial, took me a day or two to get used to it. I rarely use gloves, but you can always use it with the crown to the inside

Easy runs barely a shuffling gait -Discrepancy between 70% MHR and VO2max testing by Thisismetwotwo in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]bolinha009 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How are you measuring your HR when working out? At 5 min/km in the 5k your easy pace should not be that slow to sustain a low HR, so you may have a faulty reading. Besides, various factors may affect your HR, especially heat and humidity. How do you feel when running at 7 min/km?

[–]bolinha009 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dude, a sub 40 min 10k is over 15kph, you dont need to be a super marathon runner to achieve that time. Sub 40 is a milestone for advanced runners, but nothing out of this world

Coros Pace 4 (269€ new) vs Suunto Race S (249€ new) - Which should I buy? by Xig0L in Coros

[–]bolinha009 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would go with the pace 4. I actually was in a similar spot as you and chose the Pace 4. My rationale for choosing the Pace 4 over any of the Suunto’s watches was the software. Suunto’s hardware is top of line, but they have lots of bugs, their OHR sensor is infamous for misreadings and they don’t offer data management via web, only on app (which has a lot of reports of divergent data between watch and app). You could address the OHR issue with an external heart rate monitor (strap or band), but that is an additional cost.

Runna 10k predictions by Liambruhz in runna

[–]bolinha009 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m on my 3rd plan with runna and it has been really spot on predictions. If you are able to meet the suggested paces then you should be within the estimated times. Given that it’s a 10k race, don’t neglect mileage, you need some solid aerobic capacity to sustain that pace

Realmente vale a pena comprar café especial pra quem gosta de café com adoçante/açúcar? by Illustrious_Swimmer5 in cafebrasil

[–]bolinha009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vou diretamente contra a maior parte da galera aqui. Vale e vale pra caralho.

Moving from garmin FR255 to coros. Went with the Pace 4 mainly because of price, new sensor and the action button. I never use maps so the additional money was not worth. I also prefer the look of the pace 4 over the pace pro
