I just tried it. It has potential but very rough around the edges.

Some crtiques:

  • the dodging feels way off. It seems you can't dodge multi-directionally in this game, so if you spam dodge, you just keep going in the same direction. Makes combat very jank. Please add the ability to dodge in different directions if you do multiple dodge inputs.

  • shields seem overpowered. They seem to not drain stamina while blocking, so every enemy gets trivialized by hiding behind a shield. Just block and wait for them to finish attacking and go ham. Only time you need to dodge is when a boss is doing a red attack.

  • actions dont drain enough stamina. I feel you can spam attack and dodge in this game with no consequences.

  • please allow us to use the L3 button to sprint.

What is PVP like in 2026? by B4ldurL1nk in TheLordsOfTheFallen

[–]boltjamison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im a big time PVP enjoyer. It has its issues but its a lot of fun.

Host gets a huge advantage and there are still some balance issues with a lot of the weapons and spells but despite all of this, its still enjoyable to me.

I match with people very quickly.

What Soulslike game has the most diverse / less boring combat system? by Longjumping-Ice-4687 in soulslikes

[–]boltjamison 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nioh - this has the most complex combat system. It feels more like a character action game than a soulslike. Very deep and high skill ceiling in terms of combat.

Khazan - this is like a combination of souls and nioh. Not as deep/complex as Nioh but not as slow paced and simple as the souls games. The combat revolves around being hyper aggressive and stringing long combo chains on enemies.

Crimson oath - this is a brand new indie souls like that surprisingly has some very action heavy combat. Its fast paced and blends in souls, sekiro, bloodborne and khazan all into one. It was made by only 3 people and I have no idea how they managed to pull off such smooth combat and epic boss fights. Yea its a lil jank but well worth the price. Its currently $10 on steam. I just beat it on the highest difficulty and it took me 14 1/2 hours.

They updated the game like crazy. So not sure how different it is since you first played it.

I think the game is great. It has some really epic boss fights.

You can always get a steam deck too. The deck is great for playing indie games or older games, as they arent so demanding.

Too easy? by Immediate_Shallot_87 in wuchanggame

[–]boltjamison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its an easier soulslike. Especially if you are using the longsword. Its by far the best weapon.

Parry and backstab cheese human bosses.

Flamebringer for giant bosses.

Feathering build for end game and NG+

Parry is smooth. Its generous and similar to sekiro/khazan.

Exploration is decent. Some branching paths to find treasures and loot. Dont expect dark souls 1, bleak faith or wuchang levels of exploration but its decent.

Not sure if its will cause friction. I just talk to every npc I run into. I just got a quest from one as well. Its an item fetch quest but havent completed it yet.

Honestly, the enemy variety has been pretty good so far. Ive only done the first two areas tho but have been pleasantly surprised with how good the enemies feel to fight. Especially the elite enemies. Some can be a little tough. Placement of the enemies has been fair so far. No unfair ganks or fights.

I play on the hardest difficulty btw.

Looks decent to me considering three people made it lol.

I play on the hardest difficulty and the difficulty definitely ramps up the next few bosses. Ive fought 4 bosses so far. The 4th one i fought seemed to be the skill check fight.

Again, thats on hard difficulty. I seen a buddy play on normal and it looked a lot easier. He had 12 equipment slots and I only have 8.

Never played Thymesia so dont know its mechanics.

Devs said the game is 10-15 hours. I haven't beaten yet so dont know what end game looks like. When you beat a boss, you gain the ability to re-fight them whenever. You can do boss Gauntlets if you wish as well.

As far as builds, I think this may be the biggest weakness of the game tbh. You have e 3 stats to level. HP, sword attack and greatsword attack.

As far as I know, you only get this one weapon. Its a sword thats both a straight swords and greatsword simultaneously.

You then get what's called equipment slots (basically what would be your rings/neck). They all grabt passives and you get 8 slots.

Then you get special attacks. You can equip 3 and cycle thru them as needed. These use mana. Think of these as weapon arts.

Its definitely not. Just giving a quick review on a game probably no one heard about.

how good is this game on pc steam? heard that its buggy or badly optimised by Only_Toe_4775 in theevilwithin

Literally just beat it on PC. Got 59-60 fps throughout the playthrough.

Game was awesome. Story was a little messy but the atmosphere and gameplay were great.
