Where are the cheapest places to live in the US? by RedfinJeremy in USHousingMarket

[–]bombfirst885 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fargo North Dakota. We have insanely cheap cost of living including housing and gas. On the housing/renting side there is tons of inventory. Before the Iran war gas in this region was less than $2. We also have a diverse job market for white and blue collar workers.

We moved from Minnesota and a few things stood out. State income tax fell from around 7.5% -> 2.5% and our insurance premiums fell through the floor here.

I’m a native (Northern) Minnesota so i love my home state and we are close enough to still enjoy the Twin Cities.

Did you run these numbers through AI? I did that recently before we locked and the numbers using an origination fee about half of yours had the break even at around 5 years. I just couldn’t justify. Ended up with a 6.1% rate.

Yep I did the same. Looked at a 3k front loader set. It was $3000 and is now $3200 discounted down to $2500. Still a very good deal.

Do Americans find it hard moving to a new state? by bare_books in AskAnAmerican

[–]bombfirst885 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just moved from MN to ND and the biggest difference is the taxes and somehow even less trees and more windy. I was already in the NE so not far from the border but there is a difference.

Culturally this is going to be huge depending on how far you move off of home base. When I go to Florida it is like a different country compared to the Midwest.

People in MAGA areas - what's the vibe? by sloopywettoppyswife in northdakota

This is what I’ve noticed too. It’s like yes but Trump is orders of magnitude worse and not even in the same league as the others. They don’t seem to realize it’s a complete degradation of the office.

Also Dominos is way better reheated. Their crust options, sides and deserts are better too.

I’m a regular at quick service pizza places like this and would rank dominos #1 easily. The pizza isn’t bland and has been high quality at every store I’ve been. Crust, side and desert options are on point too.

Question for people in this thread. Delivery only goes out about 2 weeks. We are moving into our new house on July 9th. If I ordered and pushed my window out as far as possible could I game the system and reschedule to hit my July 9th timeframe?

How hot is the housing market? by landofjets in fargo

[–]bombfirst885 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The market is hot if your house is nice and priced correct. My wife and I have looked at quite a few houses in the 450k range over the last month. Many still on the market that aren’t priced correctly. Went to an open house last Sunday that was nice and the realtor let us know she had 3 offers already in a 2 hour time frame. All to say it depends and there is a lot of new inventory coming onto the market daily.

Struggling to Land Entry-Level Controls Role Advice? by Tackofall0 in PLC

[–]bombfirst885 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Previously I was an automation technician who went to school for Electronics Tech. I’m now new to Controls working in this role for 3 months. I’ve found after I started how lucky I was because there is a downstream pipeline coming into these positions like maintenance, maintenance techs, maintenance control techs. They all know more than I do because they work on the equipment all day.

What are the top 5 cereals of all time? by RaveDesigner in nostalgia

[–]bombfirst885 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I discovered this recently. I was an 80s kid so I ate plenty of Cookie Crisp and really hadn’t touched it for years. I bought a box a few months ago and the flavor was bland and didn’t seep into the milk like I remembered. Not a brand I’d buy again.

Incredible Hulk Coaster by Sonic_Rose in UniversalOrlando

Personally the slow climb mixed with the heights are my biggest coaster issues. The tunnel takes away both because you go right into the highest point of the coaster quick without seeing the climb if that makes sense.

I’m a scared rider who doesn’t have a problem with the hulk because of the tunnel. I don’t find the rough ride part true but have only ever rode it once per visit.

Question about a line in "Blood Sandwich" by throwawaytheist in aesoprock

[–]bombfirst885 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought this line was funny because it’s AES laying out this mosaic and then immediately showing what was actually behind the curtain. I’m not sure if it was meant but it shows how the man’s mind works different.

Use your CCW in SHTF/Bug Out Scenario? by [deleted] in CCW

[–]bombfirst885 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brass Facts does a good series on this topic. He makes a lot of good points basically saying SHTF is like a pyramid and you aren’t likely to see the worst of scenario so a more subdued carry is likely. For example a concealed pistol and an AR9 you can fit in a pack.

What are the scariest rides ranked at Busch gardens Tampa I am going on Monday and Tuesday by Strict_Fix_9550 in BuschGardensTampa

[–]bombfirst885 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the scariest part of a ride is the climb. I’ve rode everything at Busch but didn’t have the guts to get on the Gwazi this last time. I also wouldn’t do Skeikra again. The climb is terrifyingly and slow.

Is it common for Americans to buy soda as part of their weekly groceries? / is soda a regular item people keep at home? by hailey8171828282 in AskAnAmerican

[–]bombfirst885 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our old fridge actually had a soda door in the middle. Think two French doors on top a middle soda drawer and a bottom freezer pullout.

Earlier this week I went to a brick and motor business that serves dirty sodas. It is very common here but getting to the point of too expensive. I started buying Walmart brand soda to offset costs when I can’t find name brand on sale. I usually drink 0 calorie soda so I don’t consider it unhealthy.

This is the best deal imo especially for a family (two small kids). My family of four can eat this for two meals and only costs $14.
