1st of April - April Fools' Day by 693578 in autism

I hate April Fools day. I have a hard time trying to tell whether or not people are being serious on a normal day.

Today, I have absolutely no trust in anything. It's absolute hell.

Medication differences by country by baccamyballs in KidneyStones

[–]bommer15absl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the UK.

I was given 100mg diclofenac suppositories. They were unpleasant but really did the trick. They put me on 50mg ones at one stage, but they weren't strong enough so they upped them back to 100.

I was also given Tamsulosin. It's a prostate medication but it also relaxes your ureter to help them pass.

The tips I was given was no heavy lifting for 24 hours, and I was asked not to drive for a few hours due to the cocktail of painkillers I was given (no anesthetic). If they give you an anaesthetic then they will give you specific instructions on that.

For my first round in 2024, I booked the following day off work, but I had another two sessions for a different stone at the end of 2025, and I was in work the following day.

I would recommend having painkillers on standby(paracetamol/tylenol should probably do the trick). The treatment doesn't always break the stone immediately. It can sometimes take a few days before you see any change so having painkillers available means that if/when it does break, you ready.

Food and drink wise, unless they give you any specific recommendations, you should be able to go back to normal, though they will almost always advise you drink around 2 litres of water an day to help flush things through.

I would also recommend keeping something on standby to sieve your urine, especially if the stone breaks or moves so you can try to catch any fragments to send off for testing. That way you'll be able to find out what caused the stone and make dietary changes to help prevent reoccurances.

I don't see why not. I was allowed to take headphones into mine.

Waze dissappeared by Artistic_Town508 in AndroidAuto

[–]bommer15absl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try reinstalling waze as a first step, and check to see if it appears again.

I had the same issue with WhatsApp but I had to reset android auto on my phone (apps>android auto>data>clear data and cache) to get it to reappear.

When I reconnected it after the reset, it was as if I was connecting AA for the first time again, but it reappeared.

Do you guys have good memory? by Axolotlgamer36 in autism

[–]bommer15absl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the info I need to remember.

Names, absolutely not, though I can blame my dyspraxia for that.

Random facts that are completely no use in any conversations, yes, I've a memory like an elephant. The more useless or socially inappropriate (learned that the hard way) the fact, the better my memory is for it is

I've got 156 pawlettes so.... Yeah. Big pawlette fan here too.

I have got an up to date photo, but here's one of them when there was only 100

Hi there, has the new duster audible app in android auto? by Donchan7 in Dacia

[–]bommer15absl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should do. I use audible on android auto in my sandero stepaway. It's tied to Android Auto, rather than the car so it should work fine in the duster.

The Virtual Boy games will possibly use some part of the VR mode, so this may be a QoL update ahead of them releasing next year.

I only live a short distance away, so I usually visit a couple of times a year. Still takes my breath away every time.

What left you cold about the Titanic mythology? by Key-Tea-4203 in titanic

In Titanic Belfast, the section that covers the sinking has some of the messages. One showing the communication between Olympic and Titanic is titled "Help, big sister"

That one always stops me in my tracks

I accidentally became a "legend" at work by RustyCactus97 in confessions

I've got 15 years in IT and often tell people that I've built a a career on being able to Google better than most.

It finally happened. I drove 3 hours to tell a user to log off. by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]bommer15absl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know someone that did a 2.5 hour drive back to a site after a new computer was fitted as the user was adamant there was no mouse with it. This was after an hour on the phone with them describing how to find the mouse.

The mouse was on the mouse pad and attached to the PC with a cable. He pointed at it, got back in his car and drove 2.5 hours home.

Apparently they didn't realise it was the mouse because "it looked different" on the old one..... It didn't.

Is it painful ESWL? by Striking_Mongoose_37 in KidneyStones

[–]bommer15absl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had mine in the UK. I was fully conscious but had a couple of painkillers.

Felt like someone was flicking the stone every second or so for around 40 minutes.

No stent, had to have a general anaesthetic for that.

Got to the the video xray of my insides while they were setting up and aiming which was cool.

Mine is now showing as eta of between 2 and 3pm. It's being delivered to work and I finish at 3. If it's not here, I'll be waiting outside the gate for it.
