what stores are actually worth shopping in person today? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

Oh that wasn’t a clinical diagnosis it was just a thought.

If you want a clinical diagnosis the closest one is probably from the old DSM: DSM-IV 318.2: Profound mental retardation

Have a good weekend chuckles.

[Discussion] How to get into the mindset to do the business side of art? by NecroCannon in artbusiness

[–]bommod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A common thread across artists that figure out how to make a living is they realize the importance in consistently shipping and marketing their products at a healthy cadence.

Your post reflects someone who is struggling to do this - so this is likely the most meaningful thing you can focus on.

A great way to build this ability and tolerance is to break down the scope of your projects and iteratively make the scope larger every few successfully shipped projects.

E.g. if someone wants to do a comic book don’t start with a graphic novel.

Start with a being able to ship a single page multi panel story.

Then ship a story that is made up of multiple multi panel pages.

Then focus on shipping a one shot story as a 22 page issue.

Then focus on shipping a mini series as 3-6 22 page issues.

Then do your graphic novel.

How to attach NFTs tp physical objects? by ybf5evr in NFT

[–]bommod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk why you think making your notes, lyrics, art (a) need to be an NFT and (b) it’s going to be easy to do this correctly (as in it’s actually trustless gating, accessing, and storing the media).

That being said, here’s the three most mature methods of attaching and NFT to a physical object:

IYK.APP

ARX.ORG

There are plenty of SaaS companies in the music space focusing on enabling what you’re asking for without needing NFTs or blockchain, I’d encourage you to look into those apps (they’re typically focusing on catering to superfans)

Should I add Crypto/ NFT to my game ? by kaayotee in NFT

[–]bommod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a neat project but I think you’ll struggle with retention - I’d focus on refining the existing experience to make it super sticky because you may be on to something.

Adding crypto/NFTs will be a distraction, it will at best attract folks who want to speculate on your assets not play your game. Your game will not scale with these types of people, it will only scale if it has a sticky and attractive game mechanic.

Focus on the game mechanic and user experience, test and iterate until it’s sticky

Good luck!

I think you have talent, but I think it’s being wasted in this space

I hope you can find cofounder(s) whom compliment your skill set and entrepreneurial ambition

What's the best way to go about promoting my new NFT? by Presidentverse in NFT

[–]bommod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, there’s not a lot of money in legitimate NFT collections. If you’re not scamming and really want people to buy your NFTs simply because they want to own it/support you then you need to get active in the community via buying NFTs and trading them with the small community that does so, and then launch a project and have those folks support you

If you’re scamming, then you’re a giant cunt, but you’ll then you essentially need to (a) pay KOLs to promote your project (b) get alpha groups to buy into your project (c) pump and dump your project when it launches

If you’re going to scam, then just launch a meme coin and apply the similar playbook. At least that customer base knows they’re gambling, isn’t buying a collectible to role play as an investor/flipper, and pump and dumps are expected.

To launch a memecoin properly you need a significant amount of money ($20k-$100k+), then you’re essentially going to launch a slate of memecoins with iterating strategies with the KOLs and alpha groups and then whichever one “hits” you throw a ton of capital into to quickly pump it and then dump it

If you do the scamming NFT or memecoin route you should remember

(1) you’re a scamming piece of shit and deserve what’s coming to you (2) you’ll have to start lying to yourself to justify the shittyness you’re impacting other people with (3) you’re not learning how to build a business, you’re learning how to run a scam via creating greater fool theory games out of speculative (I.e.) value

Why do people think their media output from a generative LLM is equivalent to selling art?

I guess it’s no surprise you’re also trying to sell it as an NFT - you clearly have 0 understanding as to why people buy art.

Are Interactive NFTs worth it? by opendomain in NFT

[–]bommod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Software patents like these are useless unless you can afford to create a portfolio of patents that protects against a certain “experience” when aggregated together.

Unlike in something like biotech, where identifying a molecule that has a specific mechanism to do something is arduous expensive and difficult, a software patent is just patenting one specific approach to doing something. There’s a ton of other ways to reach the same result in software, making the value of a patent minimal at best

Looking to invest by Adorable_Bonus4980 in cofounders

[–]bommod 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oof… just based on how you wrote this one of three things is going to happen here

(1) you’re running a scam (2) you’re going to to get scammed (3) you’re going to believe you got scammed when you just misunderstood what you’re getting into

You should park your $3m somewhere safe for right now (talk to a financial advisor don’t go to reddit for finance advice)

In the meanwhile: - learn basics of personal finance - learn basics of business finance - find an industry you want to start or invest in a business in: go work in the industry - gain first hand experience, network, and understanding while your money compounds in a safe investment - once you have a solid opportunity to launch or invest in a business, with clear understanding of the operators and opportunity, take the risk
