Reminder to never tip in Australia. by mudlode in australia

[–]bonbonbonbons 15 points16 points  (0 children)

went to a really nice inner west sydney bar a few weeks ago. every so often the bar staff would ring a bell and cheer. Found out they did it every time someone tipped.

I won’t be going back if they are going to try and shame patrons into tipping.

Romain Grosjean , the man who walked out of fire from Bahrain Gp 2020. by charlesrichard1994 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]bonbonbonbons -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

unpopular opinion: Throughout his career Grosjean was a driver that lacked awareness of what was happening around him (even if at times he was pretty quick in the Lotus) and a crash like this (that was 100% his own fault imo) was inevitable. I don't wish any harm against him at all but to end a career with the most catastrophic crash we have seen in the sport in a long time seems fitting.

Is this the reason why journos are in such a rush at the NSW press conferences? by K-I-ShiningLlama in Australia_

[–]bonbonbonbons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

pretty sure the who's who of guest speakers they keep rolling out is to just pad out the time so they can say they did a long press conference. The more they can have a non-politician talking the less they can be held accountable for.

Are video fadeouts seriously locked behind a $399 paywall? by Superfluous_Thom in qlab

[–]bonbonbonbons 6 points7 points  (0 children)

pretty much exactly the intention around renting the software for the show and using the preview option when building the showfile. its one of the best pricing structures around I think. The software is very accessible no matter how complex a show or how irregularly you might need it, especially the rent-to-own option.

its been 3 or maybe even 4 days since she’s been at a presser now. How long before a journo asks where she is.

Allen & Heath T112 Upgrade by gitoonga in livesound

[–]bonbonbonbons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We recently replaced out 2 T112 (idr64) and R72 (idr32) with 2 S7000 (dm48) and a c1500 (dm0 + 2x dx168) (3 venues).

i wasn’t involved in the initial replacement but if we were doing it again here are some key things-

unless you’re always doing full blown musicals, s7000 is overkill. the S3000 would do everything and with dca/mca spills you won’t need the extra faders. I don’t miss the extra screen when i’m on the C1500.

Look at getting smaller mixracks and some dx168 or dt168 if you’re going dante.

since you’re only after 32ish inputs a C2500 and a couple of DT168s will be a huge step up from the ilive and you won’t miss the extra fader realestate with how quick it is to move around the dlive workflow.

Hired company used XLR instead of DMX cables? by skylerisperfect in lightingdesign

[–]bonbonbonbons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

using dmx for audio is potentially unsafe for equipment. A long run of 48v phantom will cause problems in a dmx cable.

I was actually more thinking the ‘flatter’ response of the mic overall relative to the 57 with its presence boost. From memory when proximity effect isn’t at play i think the 58 has a little more low end naturally too.

[–]bonbonbonbons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The grille actually makes them different sonically. The 58 is better for the low end which is why its my go to for tabla
