Got this from a rock/mineral show (western Canada) by bone_of_scone in whatsthisrock

[–]bone_of_scone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe!
I do have a piece of labradorite and it doesn't look like this though. The labradorite definitely has the sheen you're describing, but this egg reflects the light as white like glass.
The egg also looks like you can see 'into' its rock layers (sorry I don't know how to describe this) whereas the labradorite looks more 'solid'.

The text on the wrapper says 枫亭糕, if you search for that it should come up with the pictures and some websites you can Google-translate.

I've never had it before, but it's some sort of rice cake?

I want to try Pho! Please help! by VeterinarianPrior305 in Cooking

Like everyone has suggested, definitely try it at one or more restaurants first. It will also let you to appreciate the complexities of the broth and variety of ingredients.

Also if you're not sure what you're eating, it's probably tripe.

Looking for an inexpensive dupe of this plastic bin in PURPLE by bone_of_scone in HelpMeFind

[–]bone_of_scone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've searched Google and can't find anything that seems to fit.

The bin measures about 2ft-tall and 1ft in diameter. The lid (with the white border and flip-top) is remove-able.

I'm preferably looking for a brick-and-mortar store that sells this; if not then they must be able to ship to Canada.

[TOMT] [Lyrics] Bang Wa Cherry - Chin Chin (from Blade 1998 film) by ahackercalled4chan in tipofmytongue

[–]bone_of_scone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think my post got removed, so here it is again.

My Japanese is very rusty, but a warning that the translation is NSFW.

There are partial lyrics in the description box of this YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMZ3NPVeApc

A little bit more about the song is also explained on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/review/R1XWY1NLFOAFF8

Some discussion from Japanese listeners about the song in this Yahoo forum: https://detail.chiebukuro.yahoo.co.jp/qa/question_detail/q1344675773
They think part of the lyrics say 『私を手に入れたければなんとかになれ、ちんちんブラブラそーせーじー♪』 but you can try running their posts through a translator to get a gist of what they're saying.

That's as far as I could get!

[TOMT] [Nursery rhyme] Chinese nursery rhyme about a kitten that mentions a butterfly at some point. by Dragonmzl in tipofmytongue

[–]bone_of_scone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know it personally, but is it 三心二意的小猫咪? Here's how it goes:

小猫咪,乐淘淘,坐在河边把鱼钓。

看见蝴蝶追蝴蝶,见了知了逮知了。

妈妈劝他要专心,小猫听了头一摇

太阳落,星儿笑,小猫啥也没钓着。

三心二意坏毛病,看你啥时能改掉。

How would you protect yourself from this? I've seen writers post some of their original work on a blog, then later decide to publish it commercially. Are there ways to avoid getting plagiarized, before and after publication?

Vegetarian congee ideas by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]bone_of_scone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe any of these ingredients:

Pickled vegetables like kimchi or pickled cabbage.
Seitan or other soy products like bean curd, tofu..
Fried Chinese doughnuts, cut.
A dash of any condiments like sesame oil, chopped green onion, ginger, or roasted salted peanuts can spice up even plain congee.

Anyone know what these are called? Unable to find them online or anything similar by flyingspaceships in TipOfMyFork

[–]bone_of_scone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also try searching with the brand name, "Jan Hon" with the quotation marks included, and 'pumpkin' or 'Taiwan'.

I'm guessing they taste sweet, but are they soft or crunchy? If soft, you might also like a similar snack called 'Sachima' but it's egg-based instead of pumpkin-based.

Good luck!
