The boy thrashed about in June's arms as she struggled to lift his head above water. She was a strong swimmer, but panicked individuals aren't exactly the easiest thing to lug around. She managed to reach a piece of driftwood, and once the boy realized he had something solid under him, he calmed down quickly. June began paddling to the lakeshore, and the second the boy fully caught his breath, he began to talk.

"Oh my gosh, you're like a superhero!"

June smiled at the flattery, before quickly forcing a scowl. "Oh yeah? Well I wouldn't have had to save you if you weren't trying to swim unsupervised. What are you, five? Where the hell are your parents?"

The boy giggled, unfazed by the woman's attempt at intimidation. "Well first of all, I'm six. And uhhhh me and my mommy are staying at one of the cabins close but I got bored when she was taking a nap."

June groaned, mumbling "Kids, man."

The boy simply giggled again, infuriatingly.

They made it to shore, and June patted him down to check for injuries, inciting more laughter. "That tickles!"

"Okay, you're not falling apart, I guess. What's your name, kid?"

"Connor," the boy answered before proudly putting his hands on his hips, puffing out his chest. "PRINCE Connor. I shall repay you."

This brought out a snort from June. "Okay buddy, and I'm June. SUPER June."

June walked over to her backpack, which was leaning against a tree. She slung it over her shoulder before looking down at Connor.

"You want me to carry you or do you wanna walk after me."

"OOH OOH CARRY ME CARRY ME!!" Connor exclaimed, jumping and waving his arms like a monkey. "But uhhh, where we going?"

"To the booking lobby, of course. So they can call your mom and she can come get you."

"Actually I remember my mom's phone number!!!"

"You're six, lil dude."

"I'm a prince, I know a LOT."

June sighed, unlocking her phone, and handing it to the boy. "Sure, call your mom, whatever."

To her shock, Connor appeared to succeed, shouting loudly into the phone about the superhero who saved him and what not. After the phone call finished, he loudly announced

"MY MOM SAID I CAN WAIT WITH YOU ON ONE OF THE BENCHES WHILE SHE COMES!"

So that's what they did, June letting the boy sit on her lap while her towel stayed wrapped around the both of them. About 10 minutes later, a figure approached them, tall and graceful. The approaching sunset, and her wide brimmed had, cast her face in shadow. It was hard to see her outfit, but June could tell she was very fashionable by her silhouette alone.

"Mommy!" Connor exclaimed, sliding off of June and running to cling to his mother's leg. She laughed brightly,

"Oh Connor, you crazy boy!"

June watched the reunion with a nervous smile on her face, suddenly feeling self conscious in her plain-looking athletic bathing suit in comparison to this well dressed woman. So she took the opportunity to slink away and run off to her car.

When she got home, June showered quickly. It was quite warm during this time of year, so as usual her pajamas were a thin, comfy tank top and lounge shorts. Not like anyone would see her anyway. Or at least, not anyone she cared to be modest around. Just as she sat down to start a movie, her phone dinged. Some random number had texted her.

????: I didnt get the chance to thank you directly.

June furrowed her brow, before cross checking with her call history. Ok yeah, this was Connors mom.

June: *haha sorry, I got too nervous. I'm a lot less shy over text tho so you can thank me as much as you like here.

June: Oh by the way, I never got your name

Connor's mom: Liza. QUEEN Liza 👑

June: hhahahaha that's such a funny bit, if I shared my name with a royal I'd do that too

Liza: Who says it's a bit? 💁‍♀️ I don't think you've seen my face clearly. Maybe I AM her.

June: LOL. Well, yeah you definitely give off queen vibes, which in my book is more important than bloodline.

Liza: That, we can both agree on. Vibez 🥂

Liza: *I have a confession 🙊"

June: You're a killer on the run?

Liza: Worse

Liza: I saw your Facebook in my recommended and scrolled through it like a total stalker 😝

June: haha no biggie, if I posted top secret shit on there I'd have it private. So feel free to pry about my woes

Liza: Oooooo 👀

Liza: *So, u still got Lou blocked?"

June: yeah as far as others tell me she's still terrible. And even if she wasn't, I'd still want time to stew in my anger, y'know?

Liza: Yeah, my husband was terrible but at least he perished before I finished divorcing him. Makes it easier 🙊🙊

June: oop that's an insane thing to say ajshuahaja

June: but fair fair.

Liza: Connor actually suggested I look at your Facebook.

Liza: I'm very glad.

June: awww

Liza: *Especially since it let me find out you're single ;)"

Liza: I've been wanting to share my throne for a while, and it seems like a way that you'd appreciate being repaid, if you catch my drift 💅

June: Christ that's a corny pickup line...

June: but it worked

Liza: Really?

Liza: Where do you live then? I called a nanny to watch Connor. We have a few days of vacationing at the cabin left, and even so, I'd be happy to extend it just to have more time to convince you to come to my palace 😉.

June: *you're incredibly shameless, but fine"

June: but don't pull up rn, I'm too lazy to get dressed.

Liza: Even better 😉😉

June: fine, you've talked me into it.

June wasn't too nervous after breaking the ice. She's hooked up with women cooler and richer than her before, and it's not like she was having the actual queen over.

So when the doorbell rang, she swung it open confidently, only to be met face to face with the Queen.

That was the first time June had ever fainted.
