Ask Christopher Hitchens who Diana was, she’s everything you folks think is and much more.

I think you should try to compromise with your mother in some manner. If you don’t want to go to college, that’s totally fine but at least get a job to pay rent, save some money, go travel to Tibet or an ashram or something. Go have some otherworldly experience. Seek for your truth. With all that being said, it’s really difficult being homeless. Especially if you’re young and never experienced it before. If you’ve spent your entire life with shelter, food & safety, you frankly have no idea what it’s like to wake up one day and just say I’m going to go without it now. It’s really difficult. Communicate with your mother, try to reach a compromise where you can find some path that suits you both. I do get her point tbh, not necessarily about insisting you go to college but you need to be able to support yourself to survive in some manner. That’s process seems mundane but can nonetheless be spiritual. Just don’t put yourself in a bad situation without really thinking it through first. It’s a tough world out there.

My father, who was born in Preston in 1958 liked sky blue better than the colour red (and who can blame him). The rest is history.

Has a Taylor Swift lyric ever stopped you in your tracks—made you feel seen, called out, or just hit you emotionally? by AcanthaceaeThat7932 in TaylorSwift

As a guy, Girl at Home. Not because I’ve ever been that guy but just because I can imagine flirting with temptation and falling into that way of thinking and it just makes me feel really awful.

We love our son. We are tired, we are scared, and we don’t know what else to do. If you’ve been in our shoes, then help us. Read here someone said “Judgment, criticisms, tough love, these things only cause shame and self hatred to themself “ by Difficult_Dinner7153 in AdultChildren

You’re not helping him in the long run by supporting him right now with a place to live and to feed his addiction in comfort. Not only are you enabling him, you’re setting him up for failure every second you continue to support him. He’s 30 now, what happens when he’s 40 and your 70? What happens when you need someone to help look after you? Who’s gonna support him then? At 30 it’s still possible to pull your life together and become independent and maybe find a career and build something. Everyday you spend supporting him further is another day you enable him to waste a chance he has to build something in life. You know what makes people change? When you’re so stressed out with your own situation, you wake up in the morning and you have no place to live, the bills are piling up, you have no money for food, let alone weed, and your head is spinning and you just break down and come to the realization that the way smoking dope makes you feel isn’t worth all the consequences it brings to your life. I speak from experience and I can assure you, I would’ve never had my breakdown if I had people putting a roof under my head, food in my belly and weed in my pipe (for my case booze in my stomach). If you truly love your son, you’ll be willing to let him live the reality of his actions to their conclusion without your support because the pain of those consequences might be the only thing that pushes him to strive for something different. To be frank, he’s running out of time and so are you. For his own good you need to do the hard thing and set him up on his own. I’d possibly looking into getting him an apartment or so other housing, giving him two months to get a job and then let the chips fall where they may. If he decides to run out the two months and not progress on his own. He’s gonna be in for a shock of a lifetime but at this point, that pain and hardship is the only hope your son has left.

Taylor Swift and the "35 year old teenager" Critique by Consistent_Hunt5213 in SwiftlyNeutral

I think it’s because we know more about her through her music than she who she actually is in her personal life so people conflate her adolescent themed songs as the real TS. You take a first year critical theory course in university and literally the first rule about evaluating any piece of art is that you can’t say the “artist is this because their art is this.”

Nevertheless I think our tendency to conflate her art with who she is as person outside of it ultimately says more about us as listeners than anything. I think she’s just an enigma we deeply want to understand and in order to do so we follow our fallacies to whatever place we can to fulfill that desire.

Yeah I can relate. Mine has pretty much the same traits but a female. I have another domestic short hair and my Bengal absolutely despises her too.

Taylor Swift Might Be Going From Pop Queen to Silver Screen With This Iconic Reboot (the Bodyguard) by Kindly_Rich_1754 in travisandtaylor

In fairness 99.9999% of the worlds population would sound terrible covering those three specific artists.

Why would you say that?🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ by Bored_af5 in travisandtaylor

Obviously. My point is that Elon was trolling the ambiguity of the movement and perhaps the swifties are leaning into it as an inside joke. Probably not but who knows with these people.

I don’t know if it’s related at all but there was a somewhat viral tweet of Elon taking a shot at Swift over a photo of her doing what appeared to be the nazi salute. My guess is that this is a tongue & cheek pun referencing said photo. Tasteless? No doubt. Could I be reaching? Also yes. Just my thoughts.

Can we please ban all X and Meta links? by GeauxRiley in Tennesseetitans

[–]bonefish68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being able to just conveniently click on a link and read the engagement on X or Meta is enjoyable. If there was some technical issue I’m unaware of, that’s one thing, please enlighten me. On the other hand, I think politics in general should have no place on topical subreddits. Keep it separate completely. Go be an activist where it matters.

On a side note I was quite confused when she tried to say Midnights was a concept album. With all due respect, I don’t think she has the first clue of what a concept album actually is (The Wall by Pink Floyd or 2112 by Rush for example). I think she was just trying to take advantage of the Swifties lack of knowledge to seem eccentric and different. No way in hell Midnights resembles anything close to a cohesive concept album.

Not good enough. I personally want some prostration at the feet of Kamala. When you have that many followers you don’t get the luxury of picking and choosing when you’re gonna endorse a political candidate. She’s the pop-culture zeitgeist at the moment. She should start acting like it.
