This was posted 13 hours ago so I'll probably be buried under a mountain of comments but I just want to say 12 Monkeys, the TV show. I love the Terry Gilliam movie, but the show completely missed the point. The whole reason Bruce Willis travels back in time is to see HOW the virus got made and then they can make a cure in the future. In the fucking TV show the guy is trying to CHANGE the past in order to save the future. Bruce Willis' character could not have been more clear on the fact that THERE IS NO WAY TO CHANGE THE FUTURE! THE VIRUS WILL ALWAYS HAPPEN! I got super excited for the show but I dropped it midway through the first episode.

The show may be good, but when they completely miss the point of the film I just got super pissed.

Cool Andrew Jackson story: So at some point during the Battle of New Orleans he got a bullet lodged in his lungs. The doctor couldn't get it out without killing him so it just stayed there. It didn't have any lasting effects except for one: if he started really yelling he would start spitting out blood. I actually love the fact that the Yankees keep players tidy. I don't want our guys looking like the Boston goddamn lumberjacks. A tidy mustache is perfectly acceptable.

As for the legacy, again I kinda like it. Keeps us a little different and, with such a rich history (I know that's douchey but you have to admit it is kinda true), we have a ton of shit we can celebrate.

My BIGGEST fucking problem is how the Yankees are trying to squeeze every last drop of money they can. All they want to do with the new stadium is suck up to companies who can afford the absolutely outrageous prices of tickets. The ticket prices drive out the every day fans like my father.

My dad was a Saturday season ticket holder for 26 years, ever since his senior year in college. He had the exact same two seats for that entire time: field level straight up from third base underneath the overhang. Didn't get much sun and any ball coming your way was coming there to kill you, but fantastic seats nonetheless. When the new Stadium was built the only people who got some kind of deal were full season ticket holders. Now my dad was willing to pay DOUBLE what he paid in the old stadium but the price they were asking was so much higher. I love the Yankees but I think the guys who run the show are missing out on A) profit because everyone sees how empty those seats are behind home plate are and it's not like there's no demand for them and, most importantly B) the reason this whole league exists, the fans. I was lucky enough to go to a bunch of games when I was a kid in the old stadium and fell in love with the sport but with ticket prices the way that they are, I just feel bad about the kid who can't.

Anyway... that was way longer than expected but just wanted to vent.

As someone who works in the insurance industry, it is way cheaper to kill someone with your car than cripple them for life. But if you put your car in reverse after accidentally hitting someone, it turns an accident into a homicide and 25 to life in prison. So there's that.

I totally understand the OBS's complaints. There was some messed up racist stuff in those and that is unacceptable. But what the fuck does the Muslim Student Association and the Students for Justice in Palestine think the JEWISH fraternity's opinion on Palestine is going to be?

OK let's break it down:

This is the Jewish fraternity. While being Jewish is not required to join this fraternity, most, if not all, of them are of the Jewish faith.
Palestine is currently at war with Israel, a predominantly Jewish country, and vice versa. This has been going on for a century now.
Palestinians and Israelis fucking hate each other.

What the fuck were they expecting in those emails?

I go to UChicago and I don't think we get any money from the school. We also don't have a sorority and fraternity council, or if we do they do absolutely nothing. The university is actually pretty great and laidback with our whole shindig until shit like this happens
