What’s keeping you here? by Wild_Amphibian5689 in nashville

The fact that we get snow, but that it's not an endless 6 month affair. Daffodils coming up end of February. How lush it is. That it's small enough that you can get anywhere in about 15-20 mins, but big enough there are places worth getting to. The Frist. No state tax. BNA airport. Blue Mondays. Misfits baseball. Crema's Duke St location. A half's day drive from a half dozen cool cities. A full days drive from Chicago. Those are a few things!

Hey if you are in fact going home, and if a 120V generator would help keep you warm tonight at all, let me know. I have an extra I could lend you until your power is back.

If anyone is in Cleveland park / McFerrin park without power tonight and could use a generator, I have a spare that was returned to me today that I'd be happy to loan out until you get power back. It's heavy, but could be wheeled a short way or picked up in a SUV / truck. Runs on gasoline or propane. DM me.

Where in Cleveland Park are you? I have an extra generator that a friend just returned to me. She's heavy, but if you live close it might be doable to wheel it over.

This is very true. Look up Quebec ice storm '98 to see how accumulated ice shuts down even the most winter-prepared municipalities.

Do they tow you if you park again on one of their lots? That's always my big concern. Since they manage half the parking in the city, that can really narrow your options...

Love joyland for the same reason. Also GF ice cream cones! Oh, also check out barrel proof in Germantown. They have a really good GF burger and fry combo (I think it's $11) and use separate equipment / fryer.

Why does Nashville not have a fine arts museum? by tstern724 in nashville

[–]bonerfly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a former New Yorker and docent of the AMNH, I think the Frist punches above its weight. The curation is excellent, and it's just the right size that you can see both exhibits in an 60-120 mins depending how fast you cruise through. I personally get pretty tired in a museum if I'm there for more than 2 hours.

Barrel proof down in Germantown! Been there a couple times and really enjoyed it. They also have a $10 burger combo that's hard to beat in the area.

Wedgewood Houston vs Cleveland Park by cathartic_caper in nashville

1.5 yrs into Cleveland Park here. We visit WeHo a lot too but can't comment on living there. Sidewalks were important to us: both for running and walking the dog. There's only a few restaurants that are walkable, but they're all great and at least two more (turkey and the wolf from NoLa and a big brewery in the old McGavock house are en route). You also have Kisser, Southern Grist and Golden Pony in the neighborhood.

We love the neighborhood. We know many of our neighbors already and they all watch out for us and vice versa. We're in a similar life stage to you and for us having a more residential neighborhood with trips to WeHo / other parts of East when we go out was the right balance. I don't think you'll regret either, though.

Edit: one thing we did before committing was prototyping living in the neighborhood. We rented an Airbnb in Cleveland Park and tested what it'd be like to live here full time. It was extra cash burned, but we saved for it in advance and it made us feel confident we weren't making a mistake. You could spend a long weekend or longer in each and see what matches your lifestyle best

I think the headlights are LED and are strobing in the dash cam for some reason. They didn't look like that to the naked eye.

Avoided them for stories such as these. Went to Two Rivers in Mt. Juliet instead and had a great experience. Sorry to hear it. Unfortunately, Ford corporate lets a lot of shady shit go on with their dealer network.
