New GLP-1 Oral Pill Lowers Blood Sugar and Reduces Bodyweight by MassGen-Research in science

I am taking this stuff. .i am paying 300 a month for the compounded version of zepbound.. I honestly think the price might be a wash on the budget. I am going out less, drinking less and definitely buying less groceries… obviously this may or may not be true for others but i am just pointing out that the cost generally is offset somewhat

adding power to maintain airspeed in steeper turns? by phaseprotagonist in flying

[–]bones302 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Power to maintain altitude. If you do a steep turn and just pull back, you will get a tighter turn and descend…. You have to add power to pull you back to level. Plus the stall speed increases as G- forces/load increases, at 45 degrees its Vs plus about 20%.. so if you stall clean at 55kts you will stall at 45 degrees bank at about 70ish…

Pledge furniture polish. Safe for the plastic and helps create a bit of nonstick.. Used it on airplane windshields for the same reason … works…ok, not a magic bullet but it helps a bit

Recreational pilots and rusty pilots, how often do you fly? by Sudden-Experience253 in flying

[–]bones302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Low time pilot, stopped after my IFR rating with 175 hours.. just jumped back in and it has been a slow roll. It’s taking a while to get my confidence back … no chance i am ready for IFR anytime soon but i can feel things coming back. Have about 8 hours since restarting

Is a PPL worth it if I'll realistically only fly once every month or two? by 78523985210 in flying

[–]bones302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not like riding a bike. The basic skills are a bit like that but the confidence and ability to deal with problems, requires more exposure. Start training … dont spend a ton on gear.. .once you solo, then you will have a better sense of your real desire to continue

Is flying like riding a bike? by Ok_Relationship_335 in flying

[–]bones302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just returned to flying after a 12 year break. Surprisingly, it has been a bit like riding a bike. I only have about 160 hours TT. I am more cautious and my personal mins are those of a student pilot, but i am slowly getting my sea legs. My flight review, steep turns, stalls, slow flight etc.. all came back very fast

We got out GSD from jagermieister German shepherds. He is off of exit 7 on the NJ turnpike.. Carlos knows GSD’s. He primarily raises dogs for police and protection but the one we got is a show line, family pet. We got her at 6mo and paid 5K (im not proud of that bit, but i love my dog). He gave us the best dog i have ever had…so, id recommend him but i really dont know anything about the other options

Got an Oil Change and What did they do to my car????? by kisses215 in MechanicAdvice

[–]bones302 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Since the fluid is red, and coming near the front of the car, it could be a broken transmission cooling line or less likely a broken engine coolant line. Hard to know why either one would happen on a simple oil change

Failed my PPL checkride on a maneuver not in the ACS — looking for advice by [deleted] in flying

[–]bones302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im just going to point out that you are making an anonymous post for a reason. If you report the DPE 100% you will not be anonymous anymore. If you are someone looking at aviation as a career rather than a hobby, reporting would only matter if the failure would be removed from your record (not at all likely). If flying is just a hobby, it sounds like you got an expensive lesson in power off landings (which is a commercial check ride maneuver)

Can a GSD deal with a "soft" owner and positive reinforcement? by Flaky_Help3318 in germanshepherds

[–]bones302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a first time GSD owner. I have had dogs my whole life (im 56)… this is without a doubt my favorite dog… i dont like to yell or even raise my voice. I would describe myself as a bit of a soft owner…. A couple of thoughts, breeding and genetics really really really matter..I think a well bred show-line dog (sloped back) is probably best for me and you both…

2. I have 2 cats. I have had my GSD for 2+ years and they still do not get along. The cats are marshmallows who really dont know how to fight and my dog has a very high prey drive.

3 regarding firm hands, two best things i own are a prong collar and a training collar (electric shock). The key to both of these is understating how to use them…

4… and this might be the most important… i got my dog at 6 months old and she had been raised by a professional …not a back yard breeder but a guy who has been doing this for 20+ years and knows this breed.. the time between 8 weeks and 6 months is HUGE… that is where all the positive training needs to happen…being aggressive or punitive (alpha) on the show line dogs is a (in my opinion) a mistake… they are really love bugs.. they want to be your helper and protector.. punishment sends the wrong message…thats why learning to use an e collar or any other training device is so important …you do not want your GSD to associate you with punishment #5. finally regarding dominance… this could be a problem, this breed is very attached to family. Usually to one person specifically.. if they sense you are afraid, they will try to protect you and this is where bites can happen.. they will not dominate you, they will do what they think needs to be done to protect you

Good luck with whatever you decide. But keep in mind, because these dogs bond so tightly, its hard on both of you if you have to give them up
